Your Memphis Grizzlies Basketball Thread III

City chose to put 120 million into a decrepit dump. Lost 901, Redbirds arent far behind, and if the rest aint found, Ja will get to enjoy Seattle.....

If U of Memphis had any kind of foresight, they would have done what UAB did. That's why they are playing in a watered down dump of a league....

I’m throwing a wildcard and saying Nashville for the Grizz. Silver will probably want to keep a franchise in the region.

Im sure the state will find the $$$$ there. They got got over a billion for the lousy Titans. They got 200M to renovate TPAC while the Orpheum got nothing....

I agree with most of what you say on this, and with all of it in theory, but doesn’t the state own TPAC?

Orpheum is essentially a 501c3 but it’s not state or government owned, right?

Not quite apples / apples

The state owns the current TPAC building and nonprofit runs the operations.

The new TPAC building will not be owned by the state to my knowledge....

Not exactly apples to apples but pretty close...

I’d say it’s a shame, but I don’t even go anymore. Memphis picked the Grizzlies and Tigers to “win.”

I haven’t been to a Grizz game yet. I’ve sold 4 games, given a few away, and credited back others. I probably won’t attend a game until the night before Thanksgiving.

I don’t have the motivation to set foot downtown anymore. I’m 50/50 as far as renewing my tickets next season.

I'm not an NBA guy so excuse the question but is Dalton Knecht going to play his way into the starting rotation or is he a bench player?

He's the 6th or 7th guy already. Suspect his PT will be borderline starter/first reserve in the 20s for most of the season..

He'll be the reason LAL wins tonight if they hold on

Not sure what makes you say that, but throwing good money after bad then if true. That would be a shame.

What Mojo said. I don’t think the Grizz are here for the long haul. It’s a shrinking market in a poor city. Seattle will likely have an expansion by 2029. My guess is Nashville will ultimately end up with the franchise. It’s a sprawling market with wealth and it is the state capital.

I don’t see Pera pushing hard to renew the lease in Memphis.

The renovations are supposedly being done with the understanding there will be a lease extension.

However, the city does not have all the money needed and they are a little skeptical about funding the rest without a lease. Memphis didnt get a blank check from the State like Nashville got.

The Grizzlies dont trust the money will come and wont sign a lease until they know its there.

You have the entire Tigers scenario with their poor attendance hurting the Grizzlies finances. The Grizzlies pretty much forced the Tigers to fire Tubby Smith to keep them from kicking the Tigers out.

Combine that with the city/county being run by idiots and its fair to worry a bit

Why no other player has stood up for himself is beyond me.

I’m surprised Draymond has made it this long without another player intentionally injuring him.

Because the NBA office is a bunch of limp jackasses and players don’t want to get a 20 game pay cut for punching him in the mouth
