Your Memphis Grizzlies Basketball Thread III

I've never compared them.

All I said was Big Maple was a promising player and y'all took that as piss in your cheerios.

During the draft, I was mad that we went with him over Knecht (despite the grizz needing a C and none being available on the trade or FA market). I was skeptical of his NBA success based on another recent draft reach of ours (Ziaire). So, I watched preseason and researched more than what story the box score tells. I shared some stats that ran counter to my (and most Vols fans) initial thoughts about his success in NBA vs college.

Negativity abounds in here though. You do you.

Yep...Rookie of the month (Oct & Nov) was Ziaire 2.0

Hot take
If you read my post from today.. Jaylen wells is what they wanted from Ziaire. Trading real assets to move up to 10 and reach for Ziaire was/is the problem.

If you want to keep going through my post history you’ll make it to something I was actually wrong about. I didn’t like the Jaren pick. I’ve already made amends for that.

Anything else you want to bump be my guest. You’ll just continue getting dunked on.

I’m sure Zach edey will lead the parade down Beale though.

I saw. Cam looked good in preseason too. Hope he continues to develop and work towards a full-time contract.
My commentary about Cam is about roster construction, not about him as a player.

I appreciate that you have mostly just airdropped into this. Most people have been here a while and we know who feels what way, positively and negatively. I don’t feel the need to thoroughly state everything I think in each individual post.

The banging the drum of negativity and pissing in cheerios is quite trite and not really going to buy you much dialogue.

oh, I saw it.

Well I was looking for some post where I must've said Edey would be better than Knecht, because you seemed to go that narrative. I never found any such post from me, but I did find that jewel from you, and figured I'd repost it.

And are you now shifting the goalposts about your Wells/Ziaire comparison to be that we traded assets to draft up for Ziaire...even though we got Wells at 39. Hmm

...I don't think you know how dunks work. You haven't had one yet.

I'm negative? That's rich.

I'll welcome a Grizz parade with whoever is in it.
We could trade Ja, Jaren, & the gang & draft 15 TBrowns, and I'd still cheer.

While Edey is on the grizz, I'll feel inclined to post about him. Positive or negative

Feel free to ignore my positivity. I'll be stuck with your negativity since this thread goes poof when you go on ignore

The problem with Edey is minutes. He might give you quality over 15-20 regular season minutes but doesn’t seem to be a guy who can go 30+ (which makes him just another Grizzlie actually). This from a top pick. Knecht can give you 30+ and is almost there already.

We can all rally around Wells delivering as a 2nd rounder.

He’s a short side platoon baseball player.

Yep, no one on Grizz > 30mpg, at least for now. Top pick or not.

That works fine for the regular season. I suspect it'll hurt us in the playoffs though when the roster shortens. Seems like that's been part of our woes in '21, '22' & '23 (along with injuries).

Someone posted in here in recent pages how no true bigs in the league give more than 20-25mpg, except Jokic/Gobert.

If Edey can improve agility for perimeter D and keep improving his foul discipline, he'll see more minutes.

I'm been impressed with his improvement over first 14 games

Maple assigned to Hustle for today's practice, and getting recalled to Grizzlies after that...

May we all hope he plays his way to co-ROY with Jaylen along the way to our first parade Beale St

I think @TBrown found someone he disagrees with more than me.....
How you feeling about Ja's 3 now?
You mocked my thought that it had improved early in the season, when it was at 16%.

Outside of a cold 2-game stretch in October with 0-6 & 1-6, he's shooting 35.9%.

Including those (because they still count), he's 29.4% for the season.

Oct: 21.7%
Nov: 33.3%
Dec: 38.5%

His 3P% seems to mostly follow the same trend as high FT%. Last year was an outlier due to, presumingly, the small sample size (only 51 shots across 9 games).
