some of both. he got 16 wins last year (tied for the most in the NL) and he led the NL Strikeouts last year and he recieved zero votes for the cy young. he very quietly had one of the best seasons in the majors. if he has a repeat performance this year of last year he has to get a serious look for it.I just saw this. Is this a homer pick or do you really think a guy that has never really gotten much above 15 wins pitching at Great American has a chance?

i think the cy young's are a crapshoot this year, i honestly have no idea. And i don't know enough about potential phenom rookies to not make a fool of myself.
the reds have 2 good dependable starters, one guy that looks like he could be a good dependable starter, one guy that is doing all right but gives up the long ball (Not good for a pitcher at the GABP) and Eric Milton (no description needed). also the bullpen blows. In all honesty i think the NL central is going to blow this year.i hate the reds... but i think they're pitching is pretty good. of all the divisions, the nl central is obviously the most wide open. cards dont' have the pitching to repeat, astros don't have enough of anything really, cubs are the cubs.. pirates need a few more years, your brewer prediction might turn out true.. i just can't put my stock in them yet.
At heart, I'm an A's fan. i just don't think we have the offense to compete w/ vlad and co. this year.
Belisle is the guy I was talking about who looks like he could be a dependable starter. He has always had good stuff it just seems that he could never put it together. He has put it together in his two starts this year and was very impressive. Saarloos has been alright so far this year. If i had to pick to guys in the BP right now it would probably be him and Santos.you're right on all accounts vkb. I should have stated i like their pitching combo the best out of a very weak NL Central. You go .500 you might win the division this year. I noticed you picked Harang as the NL Cy Young. As an A's fan, I'm a huge Harang fan. I think Arroyo was a good pickup, and I've seen flashes from Saarloos. I'll grant you Eric Milton, but again, look at their competition. Lohse being the only lefty in the starting rotation (that i know of) could cause some problems as well.

as little thought he probably put into that he will probably be right about his prediction.
the brewers are the best all around team in the centralPredicting the Cards to win a sorry division like the central does not take much thought. The Cubs are the cubs, look good on paper but you know they'll choke. The Reds have 2 good pitchers and then Belisle and Milton. Homer Bailey better be all he's cracked up to be.The Brewers have Sheets and noboby else. The Pirates aren't worth talking about
I know a little about baseball.
