UT looks as if they have done a 180. The individual plays were great. But I am just as happy about the fact that the offense did not need to call a timeout coming out after a commercial break. This team looked infinitely more prepared than the team of a year ago. Hot Dang, we are more than talented enough to win the East and play for the title.

The Big 12 sucks as usual. Montana State beats Colorado, Oklahoma beats UAB by 7. No wonder a team from this conference has ended up in the BCS title game the last 3 years. Hope Ohio State beats Texas or Texas may walk to the title game again with their schedule.

I agree the big orange looked like they did a 180,as you said the individual play was great, the O-line did their job the kickers did theirs & the D-line & linebackers were fantastic,Ainge & Meach were
hooking up and the best thing about the game was it was a Team effort & a total Team victory!

GO VOLS

After watching the Coach's show, I was impressed with the gang tackling. Two and sometimes three guys on a carrier. Just a great job.

I was pleased to see CPF's intensity when the ref gave Meachem a bad spot. It has been a while since he has been that animated on the sidelines.

Looks like after one game Tennessee football is back! The o-line was great and Ainge's confindence was amazing!! I also was quick to notice the gang tackling and how good the defensive help was yesterday. It's good to see us finaly throw the ball downfield with success, thank you David Cutcliff! Montario Hardesty is going to be a stud!

As far as around the nation. Texas looks very strong again and could repeat, tons of talent. Colorado still has a TON of issues. Vandy as usual put up a good fight but it wasn't enough. Could be a long year again for Purdue after a 60-35 victory over a Div. IAA team that went 0-11 last season.

After one game, the Vols look like world beaters.

But it's just one game... gotta take'em one game at a time, don't look ahead, and prepare for the next opponent. The Vols definitely fit that "Fired up, Focused, & Prepared" motto that Fulmer talked a lot about in Fall practice in the first game.

Yes, great game, but lets hope the players don't lose the focus and motivation that got them there.

I'm excited about the rest of this season.

The YellowJackets gave #2:)post-4-1090547912: ) notterdame a great game. I wish we still had them in the SEC.

Arkansas got snackcaked but props to them for scheduling USC.

The bammerz are touting Shula as the second comming of the bear after eeking out a win over powerhouse:)olol: ) U.H.
(Shula has alot to learn about cheating to even get close to Bryant)

Props to Vandy as well for putting Meeeeeshigin on the schedule.

Defense is super. Passing game back. Running game improved over last year but hopefully OL run blocking will get better. (Hardestee got that long one on his own.) DB's play yesterday a pleasant surprise.

Notre Dame's offense was terrible. I though Chalie Weiss was a genius. What happend there??

Man ND should breathing a sigh of relief. If they had lost to GT, they would have only had 3 more losses seperating them and elimination from a BCS title birth.

I read somewhere that Weis had that stomach staple thing done in an attempt to lose weight and he almost died from it... and he's still a big ol boy even after that.

This is my post game 1 take.

I was worried about a blow-out either way it went. I just hope we realize that Cal's #9 ranking and hype they came in with could be just as valuable as our hype and preseason ranking last year. They might just suck period. I hope the coaches keep on the team to make sure they work as hard as they did for this game all year long. And while it was an incredible showing last night, it wasn't perfect. Let's correct the things that need to be corrected and come out even stronger next week. The sky's the limit, and I love it. Go Vols!

I agree, it is a completely different team. Whatever issues were there last year seem to have been addressed. If this team shows up all season, I'm very excited about the possibilities. We play UGA, South Carolina, and Arkansas on the road, but everything else is a home game

Like I've said before, GA, Ark. can't beat us with young QB's. Bama without Prothro can't either. The only thing that worries me is the fact that SEC teams will tackle a lot better than Cal; they flat gave us some early XMas gifts. How many first downs did we have?

1. UT has team speed on defense comparable with anyone in the nation.
2. If Cal doesn't come up with an answer at QB, they're going to lose 5 or 6 games.
3. I'm amazed at how good SC looked. They appear to be excellent again.
4. Florida must have played well. Southern Miss isn't a patsy.

I hate to agree about SC. Dear lord, a team we thought had a shot got BLASTED.

First weekend almost over. Am looking forward to see the "I'm a soldier" U and Free Shoes U.

1. Vols were a complete team. Offense, Defense and special teams.
2. ND struggled. Go State Penn.
3. Trojans rolled.
4. Ohio beat a patsy. Gr8t game this coming Saturday.
5. Texas beat a patsy. Gr8t game this coming Saturday.
6. UGA had two great run backs for TD's. Opps, only one.

Great game by the Vols! Lots of great 2nd and 3rd efforts to break tackles by the recievers and RBs. Too many SEC teams played patsies for me to have a real read on anyone.
