I'll echo a lot of what almost everyone else has said, if only to give O2 the pleasure of seeing me say something positive about CPF.....
The UT defense look sharp. Fast, aggressive, and when they got to the ball, they usually arrived in numbers, and in a bad mood. John Chavis may be one of the most underrated coaches in the game.
The UT offense was (gasp) also fast and aggressive. The run blocking should improve as time goes by, and I saw flashes of great potential from both the receivers and running backs. Ainge looks to have really matured under Cutcliffe's hand.
Special teams looked tight, as well. If the UT team we saw against Cal sticks around all season, the Vols could make a run at the SEC Championship....and who knows?
My only knock (and it's a small one) was that I thought we substituted too early. Up 35-0 midway through the 3rd quarter, we started putting in subs. That's OK against UK, but Cal was a wounded Bear, and any true VolFan knows that a wounded bear can be dangerous. There are good reasons to pull your starters (such as to avoid a seaon-ending injury), so it's a small knock.
On a scale of 1 to 10, this was a 9.5
Had Freak streaked across the field when the band made the "T"...it would have been a 10.
Go Vols.
