Well, I study Neandertals (I'm about a month away from having a Ph.D. in biological anthropology), and I thought NeanderVol was a clever, albeit rather dorky, play on words.

Me too... I've had a helluva time trying to pronounce 'rwemyss.'

Still pretty hard without the R...

I've struggled with how to say that myself.
Wound up just saying Remus, as in uncle.
no offense rwemyss.... :post-20645-1119625378:

Man, that is pretty cool! At least you aren't from Hohenwald (TN) which I assumed when I first saw your handle. Just kidding Hohenwaldians ;)

I'll be travelling through Hohenfels on vacation this summer and will have a Spaten in your name.

My wife will be back there visiting her folks with our son. Enjoy two Biers for me.

Well, at our school we were having our homecoming bonfire, and afterwards I was just walking around and I hear these guys in this car and they're like, "Hey it's Rocky Top Roberts!" It was dark, and I couldn't figure out who it was.
Well, Roberts is my last name and do I have to explain were they got Rocky Top?To this day I still don't know who called me that, but I liked it!

I work with a dude with a last name wemyss here in TX. The first time I saw your username, I did a double take.
We're a rare breed. The last name is actually Scottish. I took a fun trip there with the family while I was in high school. There's a castle and everything. It is pronounced "weems" and there is actually a branch of the family that spells it that way. My core family is from Gallatin, Fairview was in the family for a long time until my great-many times over Aunt died. Their money was from Genesco shoes... the auditorium at Vol State in Gallatin is the "Wemyss Auditorium".

I'm surprised about the guy in TX, Vader. That's cool.

Keep the explanations comming guys! This is fun. :biggrin2:

I chose my name because I have always been an intense, competitive Vol fan...I appear to be just a regular person, minding my own business in life, until I get involved with my Vols...then I become an out of control, crazy person who appears to be rabid...my son often comments on the craziness and said to me while we were at a football game, "Mom, if you continue to run your mouth and be crazy and provoke a fight, then I am the one who will have to fight...nobody is going to take on an old gray haired woman." Of course, I had every confidence he could take those 100 or so Georgia Bulldog fans!!!!

That is almost exactly what I've had to tell my mom!

PJ are my initials and what most friends called my in college. Not much thought put into it but I've used it since about 2000 on various boards.
