KSR is pretty dang good.

Typical when it comes to sports facilities though. The public sector really needs to stop paying for them.

Kentucky Sports Radio » Blog Archive » Yum Center is over $800 million in debt

Thanks to the sweetheart deal that U of L got, the YUM center is about to default, giving UL the rights to snatch it up, while the Kentucky taxpayers bail them out.

We've discussed this before but is there any hope that Louisville can atract either an NBA or an NHL franchise to share the facility? How come the Yum Center has this problem but the facility in Raleigh, NC that N.C. State uses doesn't? Is it just because Raleigh has an NHL franchise?

That would be the ONLY thing that saves it! But, Pitino and UL AD Jurich have opposed that idea from the start.

The concern over competition for fans shouldn't scare UofL, IMO. Having an NBA team wouldn't cause the locals to stop going to see the Cards. And, there is a large faction of basketball fans in that city who hate all things UofL.

Sacramento Kings are wanting to sell - not sure if the market is big enough with Memphis being kind of close - NHL in Kentucky would be a hard sell IMO

The commonwealth embraced the Kentucky Colonels when they were an ABA team. It would easily happen again.

Agree. The presence of an NBA franchise is good for the city and also for the development of local talent. Indianapolis has a large number of NBA players for a city of its size - I'm sure that the Pacers are one reason for that.

So there is no state tournament for 7/8 grade schools in Kentucky ? Thats sad

I didn't know state tournaments at the junior high level was common. I have lived in KY, WV, and FL and have never heard of such an event. You obviously must have seen one though.

I always thought the natural progression was that grade schools compete for a city title, high schools compete for a state title, colleges compete for a national title, and pro teams compete for a world title.

I'll never understand why so many people move to areas where they absolutely hate the local sports teams and then continue to hate those teams.
I will never do that again.

Not singling out Brian at all. There are plenty of Vols on here who live in Alabama.
I suppose sometimes it's unavoidable due to circumstances.
But, to me, it's crazy when people say they have "lived in _____ for many years, love the place, and hate the local _____."

To each his own, but I refuse to hate on an area that I am living and working in. And, I will never relocate to a sports-crazed area that I wouldn't be able to get along with.

Again, not singling out anyone in particular and also not claiming to know everyone's circumstances.

Speech over.

Employment?

Yeah.
I moved to Jacksonville for a job and have since bought a house here.
I think it would be goofy for me to hate the Jaguars and the local A-Sun teams. To each his own though.

Kudos on listing your location as Hoosierville. :eek:k:
That's funny.

I would push the red button and blow Indiana sky high if I had the chance, and Brian would have to take one for the team, and be sacrificed. You ride with an outlaw, you die with an outlaw.

That being said, I enjoy my visits to Columbus Indiana for business with a Japanese transplant company, who gets me blitzed on sake and sushi.

I turned down a job in Philly, because, well, it's Philly.
