Zeigler all-time steals leader

He can, and he has, which makes him all the better. What Im saying is he’s a stark contrast to a guy like Cal who just lives to collect the All Americans and draft prospects at the expense of the culture/program.
Cal’s time has passed him by. Rick somewhat surprisingly has seemingly gotten better with age.

Rick is developing skills that while not widely used still make you a better fundamental basketball player.

Cal always seemed to just rely on the talent being as good as advertised and he would let them play until it "clicked"

He also didn't play much his freshman year due to a player named Kennedy Chandler.

It's pretty remarkable what he's accomplished in his time on the court.
He played quite a lot. 35 games at 22 minutes a clip. A whole lot for a true freshman with no major scholarship offers when his senior season of high school ended.

He actually played quite a bit as a freshman. 22 mpg, 8.8 ppg, 2.7 apg. He had 60 steals as a freshman, as well. He wasn't expected to play that much, in fact, he was expected to redshirt. Once Barnes saw him in practice going against Chandler, he knew that plan was out the window.

Some of our most effective runs that year were when Chandler and ZZ were on the floor together
Man, it would have been nice to have one more year of that tandem. But, I'm glad KC got that guaranteed money from the Grizzs. I saw some summer league or preseason highlights of KC and he was still dunking on fools, at 5'11. If he continues to improve that 3, he will get another shot to make a NBA roster, full time, imo

Bet KC has thought about it too. In today’s college bball bet more he would have. Maybe Keon and Springer too.

I should check facts before going off memory

Another reason I prefer to have a developer as a coach of a guy that just recruits, like the man in Arkansas. Most of the guys Barnes has had success with here were guys that were not very highly recruited and were thank you so much here 3 plus years. A lot of coaches talk about system and culture, but it’s real here. Im not discounting ZZ’s talent and hard work, of course, but I love how this staff brings on guys like that who buy in, take hard coaching, do the work, etc instead of just chasing guys with a bunch of stars by their names.

Exactly. I remember years ago an analyst (can't remember who) that was close with Barnes basically said that he's not a star chaser and instead goes after players that he feels fit best in his system. It's crazy just how good of a coach he is with that approach considering that he's developed players that weren't highly touted out of high school, or that he's found in the portal, and turned into NBA draftees.

He has a very good shot at being the all-time assists leader as well.
At his current pace of 7.5 a game he's need 15 games we have 14 regular season games left so yes very attainable. Assuming we play at least 4 postseason games he'd need to average like 6.4. He also needs 45 steals to break that single-season record which would be a tough one but getting into top 5 is something realistic

Him and Mashack are both on pace to put up top 5 steal seasons. Crazy that they could do that at the same time.
