ZZ done dirty

I wanna give Dicky V a pass because he probably is going a little bit ,but I mean this list is ridiculous

His rankings of PGs in the country:

Dajuan Harris
Tyler Kolek
Tristen Newton
Reed Shepperd
Braden Smith
Isaiah Stevens

Ofc none of this matters, all that matters is getting to Pheonix, but ZZ is a better defender than all of those and probably a top 3 PG in the country
😤
ZZ write Sheppards a$$ out last Saturday

This will give Seigler more fuel to prove Vitale wrong.

Dickie V is a shill for Calipari and for any KY, NC or Duke player. Not to mention he’s older than dirt. I don’t consider his opinion relevant.
Noted the blue blood flavor to his list. He ain’t stepping outside the box and focused completely on ppg.

I think his list is his version of the " best pg who will make it to the next level "

ZZ is a great college player and All-SEC, but most likely won't be in NBA.

Dickie V. is WAY too old to do his own research now. He just regurgitates preseason drivel. Unfortunately for him, he's just a figurehead now. I wouldn't take it as a shot to ZZ.

It is so nice to watch college hoops in peace.
Don’t care what he says, glad I don’t have to hear him 👍

ZZ has proven everyone wrong with Tennessee being the only major school to offer him. He has performed above initial expectations. A NBA team will take a flyer on him for the G league and ZZ will force his way onto a NBA roster in short time. He is someone I wouldn’t bet against.

Im confused here... now let me first agree i'd take ZZ over all of these guys. But to say he was done dirty because someone left him off the list?

Using Reed Shepherd as an example. Outside of assists ZZ 5.5 vs his 4.2 he leads ZZ in every other category.... points, rebounds, steals by a good amount and leads him in shooting percentages by 20 points both from the field and from 3. He's a freshman. So youre all saying its crazy that a guy that averages more points, more rebounds, more steals, more blocks and fewer turnovers. he also 53% period from the feild and 3....ZZ averages 38 and 33percent from the feild and 3 respectively. He shoots slightly better from free throws and dishes out a couple more assists.. thats the only stats he wins in. So how can one say that a Freshman who is statistically better in pretty much all the things that define a PG does not deserve to be on the list ahead of a more experienced guy?

Yes ZZ is a better player but these guys have to go off stats.

Is Vitale the sole voter of, or have his own, award? No? Then I really don't understand the uproar. I swear, between this and a guy saying he's not fond of Tennessee baseball (in the context of being rated so high), people really get their panties in a wad.

Assists is typically the #1 stat associated with PG my dude…you’re also ignoring the fact ZZ’s stats are greatly effected by starting the year out recovering from an injury, you may wanna check out their conference stats compared to each other.

Assist numbers in college basketball are way different in college than the NBA and are not always as indicative of how well a PG is doing his job at this level. In the NBA if you gave a passing glance at the ball the week before the shot was made you get an assist.
But even if it was the case it's not like he is averaging 15 assists its 5.5 vs 4.2 thats a small difference..... over 42/35 vs 53/54 splits from the feild is a huge deal. So he leads him in every single statistic outside of a lead of 1 assist and you're gonna roll with that? Thats like you saying your uber is better than mine because youre always exactly on time and im sometimes a minute late.. but my car is cleaner I drive better and pick better routes through traffic. You wanna talk about PG stats what about turnovers? steals? And also I was wrong about free throw % hea leads ZZ in that also. So literally the only statistic he leads him in is assists by 1. And he is a freshman......

I would not trade ZZ for any PG in the nation. But that is not the point. ZZ is a Vol and Sheppard is a boo-kitty. I get it imagine if they instead played for Kansas and Purdue with the same stats there would be no question....Now could the argument be made that ZZ belongs on the list. Yes it would be a more than valid argument to make. But saying he was disrespected is taking it a bit far, especially with the example you gave..it was a bad one If I was gonna make an argument for a spot I'd have used Kansas' Dajuan Harris who does beat out ZZ in your coveted assists stat but is worse or very close in pretty much everything else. He is also a Junior and plays a similar role so a better comparison. FYI the nation leader in assists this year is dishing out 7.7. The only guy on their 6 best PGs that's even in the top 5 in assists is Stephens at 7.3.
