There was one fight in the UT section. OU fan was escorted cussing and kicking. UT fans were very respectful and didn't kick his butt out the stands. They allowed stadium police to drag him out the exit.

Section 37, row 22 area?

If so, it was me and as the game went on I became more and more embarrassed of my behavior and how I let an opposing fan get to me. Guy crossed the line with my wife and I wasn't gonna take his BS anymore and snapped. I spent all game hoping that I didn't embarrass our fanbase and ruin OU's view of us. I was "consoled" by OU fans who saw it go down and knew it wasn't started on my end, but I still felt horrible later on.

I'm one who lives by the golden rule when it comes to treatment of opposing fans. I've been to games at 10 of the 14 SEC schools and always hope that the hospitality displayed by myself and my family/friends at home is remembered and reciprocated when I'm on the road.

So to any UT and OU fans who may have been affected by my situation, I sincerely apologize. In 10 years of traveling to UT away games I've never lost my cool like I did last night and have always been able to take obnoxiousness with a grain of salt. Last night was an anomoly for me.

I don't think you should be apologizing over that incident. I'm with you man. I can take the heckling and understand that some people are just drunken fools running their mouths, but it's different when they're disrespecting your lady or possibly a kid. I don't think anyone would expect you to react any different in the heat of the moment. Just glad you didn't get ejected over an unfortunate situation. Sounds like most OU fans were outstanding hosts. I hope our fans are classy hosts next year reguardless of the outcome of the game.

Next time just buy a spare ticket for Bama Mom. She knows how to deal with unruly OU fans.

Spent two days in OKC and without a doubt probably the nicest set of fans I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. Was invited into tailgates, given free food and beer. They even turned the GA vs SC game on because we were interested in the score. All I can say is pure class and this is the way it should be, it's a game. Many SEC fans could sure take a lesson from OU. They even played Rocky Top with their band before the game as a tribute.

Almost all schools do that

Their fans were awesome and welcomed/ thanked me for coming BEFORE the and after

Funniest comment was one said he was mad and really hates us -- because we had to go to the Alamo and save Texas.

That's a pretty good one there. :eek:lol:

Well they won so I guess they cant be too mad at us

I was at a game in Athens several years ago where we lost, and the fans were still awful. I was walking with a friend, and a group of eight UGA students surrounded us like the Van Buren Boys. I asked why they were pissed at us since we lost the game. They said, "because Tennessee sucks."
I guess if we had won the game, they would have been much more pleasant and respectful.
Oh, I also had someone throwing full beer cans at my car.

Eight UGA fans on two UT fans?

Doesn't even sound like a fair fight for them.

That Vol fan on their board, hellvol, can go choke on something. Runs his mouth about UT fans on their site like a little b****.

That's kinda what I got out of it. What kinda crap is that?

My buddy went with some Sooner friends of his.

According to him:
Pros:
Very Friendly People
Fantastic Tailgating - "Everything was RIGHT THERE."

Cons:
Small Stadium (we're so spoiled)
Band was not good
Pregame was not good

He basically said all non-school-supported events (tailgating) was great, but all school-supported events (like a Sooner Walk or something) was non-existent.

He also said the Pride was greatly missed. "We didn't know what to do when we scored".

And OU's band played Fight Vols Fight before the game as our welcome, not Rocky Top or even Down the Field.

I was at a Titans game a few years ago and at those pro games, you get the bottom rung of people, honestly, as far as how some act, as if they have never been out or to a football game. Used to have nosebleed seats and there was an event every week up there. I was down low with a friend. Man and @ 13 yr old son sit down 2 rows in front of us. I hear him talking about first game. Then two skinny, drunk and mouthy punks sit down with a beer. People asked them to chill on how they were acting. Man with his son turned around and said he didn't want his son hearing all the crap coming out of their mouths. Punk on the right said, "this kid?", and poured some beer on the back of his head.
It's still in slow motion for me, but the eyes of that @ 40 yr old man got huge and his face purple. 5'10, 200 older dude, from the row below, beat the **** out of those dudes in @ 15 seconds. I've never seen such haymakers connect, but they weren't looping and just straight and quick from the chin. He was keeping them up with a few and me, my friend and even the guy behind us had blood on our clothes from the multiple cuts from the punks. Both out cold in their blood, in 15 seconds.
The point is, be courteous, or you might get knocked the eff out when you least expect it.

My son and I had a great experience. Talked to many OU fans and all were cordial and seemed gratified that so many of us made the trip. The campus is very nice indeed.

That being said, Stoops really is pushing the anti SEC angle and I heard too much of that crap in the stadium. I hope a lot of them make the trip to Knoxville so they can see how we do it down home.

We left shortly after the game ended and headed north on Claussen/Porter and took a left at Robinson. Traffic cleared at that point and it was easy access to I35.

I would vote for another home and away with OK (at least while I'm living in Plano),

I guess I missed the band playing Rocky Top. The absolute first time I have ever been to a Tennessee game and not heard Rocky Top.

^^^This. Easy to be classy and gracious when you are winning, but losing is a different story. However, it does sounds like their fans were very hospitable and hopefully we return the favor next year. You can root for your team without being offensive (except when dealing w/ Bama or Fla fans where you have no choice).

Both their fans and the players seem classy. I didn't really notice any trash talking or dirty plays.

You must have missed the shmoney dance that was performed by one of their defensive line after sacking Worley. Still can't believe they didn't throw a flag.

On another note their fans were incredibly nice. A program that is used to winning with class typically has good fans like that.

Glad they had a good time and yeah hellvol got called out before by Vol fans on their board.

Wish I could capture my picture on this. A black hat with an orange power T in a sea of white and red!

Found myself, the ass is not in the frame but his buddy is. He must've been still getting liquored up at that point.

They guys at the office told me about that today. Chuckled about the situation and even the cops had a good laugh at your "victims" situation.

Best road trip EVER for me...their fanbase was class personified and the standard for a game experience. I would consider going to a game in Norman with no dog in the hunt...but I'd prepare to stay a few hours after the game...WORST EXIT TRAFFIC EVER!! :w00t:

It will be worse next year as they are tearing the bridge on Lindsey (the street to the stadium) up at I-35 as well as making it 4 lanes up until the housing area (2 miles west of campus). Not sure what they can do about that traffic because they can't expand it all the way to 4 lanes due to the houses in the area. Definitely a pain though

Those post on OU's site made me proud to be a Vol. Glad our fans haven't regressed into mouth breathing, neck bearded, arse faces like some of our rivals.

I'm about to make some family mad. I may cheer for OU against the fake UT this season.

I didn't get to go to the game, but it seemed to me that the OU band played longer between plays than they're allowed, with their horn section holding an obnoxious note right up till the snap of the ball. As for their players, I felt they showboated a bit too much to consider them a classy team. Anyways, that's my observations......
