Interesting that Butch won't announce "the hire" until basically after signing day. That makes me think that DeBord is definitely our guy, someone from the NFL, or someone that isn't currently part of a college team.

You would think if it was a college guy, the school would have already announced his departure. Unless there is a mutual decision that the announcement has to be after NSD to hold onto that school's recruiting class.

Kiffin says whaaat????

The guys I'd say he'll turn away will be Riley lovingood, Darrell miller, or possibly another one of the 3 star guys. Hopefully he won't have to turn away too many however.

Good stuff OP. Thanks.

Hard to believe this could be the first time Tennessee has top-five classes in consecutive years. Let's hope there are lots of other positive firsts in Butch's tenure.

Wonder if he'll show up decked out in Ole Miss garb and try to do some recruiting himself. If he does, I guess that will make him a bad guy.

You have to remember, recruiting services and their rankings haven't been around that long. So it's a little misleading.

Lovingood is not going anywhere. Butch was ticked he missed our longsnapper last year when OU snuck in and offered a scholly at the last minute. He wants one to back up Gianpapa (sp?). Miler is not either IMO.

I guess I'm looking at it in comparison to the Fulmer era. I know Fulmer averaged somewhere in the neighborhood of a No. 10 class during his tenure here. I figured he might have put a couple of great ones together back-to-back.

I thought Lovingood was a long-snapper and coming as a preferred walk-on...don't think you offer a LS a scholly. We still have Giampapa. Don't know about Miller...depending on what 4* or 5* players CBJ has in mind...two on the top of the list are tackles...if that is the case we could dump a few of the linemen that didn't work out this year...not sure where Raulerson or Sanders fit in...we also have too many WRs on scholarship v. DBs...we sent Ford packing and Sawyers and King along with Jenkins and maybe Wharton are also gone...what about Blanc? Is Bussey still a go? Now that we have Kelley I read where Bussey may flip to TAM. We also have two other 3* RBs committed that could be sent to other schools if Bussey stays and we need openings.

- Butch hasn't announced OC hire because he's focused on finishing this recruiting class with less than a week til signing day

-Butch just got back from Memphis where he personally visited Ole Miss commit 5* OT Drew Richmond

-Visit went very well and ended with an agreement that Drew and his family will visit Knoxville this weekend, giving us the chance to make last impression

-Says Ole Miss media and fans are nervous because he previously refused to visit any other schools and now he's headed our way.

-Thinks he might flip but odds are in Ole Miss's favor still BUT we had NO chance before visit.

-Said Butch privately turned away "a handful" of 4* guys, indicating more cuts will be made from current commit list and that he likely has at least 2 planned for NSD

Lastly, he said TN COULD end up with #1 class if Richmond flips and we pick up one other 4-5*

As long as nobody flips from our current commits, we will 100% land a top-5 class, becoming the first time in school history with back-to-back top 5 classes. (Including Fulmer era)

All good news! That last fact surprised me. Butch has recruited better than ANY UT coach before him!

Hard to believe, but all I can say is I believe!
