Tennessee fans have a job to do on August 31st. You better show up and be loud and give USU a proper Volunteer welcome.

Yeah, but there is a precedent there. Tennessee has beaten both of those teams, and done it quite a bit, too. Sure, it's not went well for Tennessee in a long time, but that doesn't change the fact that Tennessee is one of the best programs in college football history, and one of two premier teams in SEC history. Tennessee will punish those teams again, we all know that. We don't know when, but it will happen. Tennessee fans' belief that the Vols can beat and run away from Florida and Alabama is based in reality. It's already been done.

Utah State has needed the unbelievable (for them) success of the past few years just to get over .500 all time. There is absolutely no precedent for them to believe they will run Tennessee out of their own stadium. I mean, anything is possible, but it's not at all likely.

Good post.

I don't blame them for having confidence given that last year had we played in a bowl they would have beat us. But they won't be nearly as good as last season and we will be much better. Should be a 2 score victory easy.

Their front seven is really excellent don't think their secondary is up to SEC standards.

Their front 7 is very good for a mid-major meaning that UT should be able to handle them straight up but should definitely be able to pressure their weaknesses.

Above and beyond any predictions on the Tennessee game (where they claim "Utah State should easily roll"), the funniest thing to me was that several of them honestly believe that their defense was superior to any in the SEC, including Bama and pre-injury Florida. I understand confidence, but that's just silly and ignorant hubris.

Can't wait to send these guys home with a fat check and an ass-waxing the likes of which they won't soon forget.

How about Oregon(last year) or Oklahoma then. The teams really didn't matter. That wasn't the point.

I personally think this will be a good game and our Vols will pull away late. Here are some amusing quotes from the Aggie faithful. Enjoy. Discuss. Flame away. GBO.

"Tennessee is the 4th-5th best opponent on a really bad schedule"
"Tennessee is going to have an eye opening experience"
"The reason I have my money on a laugher is that the Aggies have a Defense on par with anything in the SEC"

"It has been a long time since the Vols had a non-conference schedule like they do this year. There is a fairly moderate chance UT loses 3 of them"

I like it. I hope they bring some fans to the game, and I hope those fans have the incredible experience that only Neyland Stadium and the best fan base in CFB provides.

Treat them well as we bludgeon their team.

No. I doubt they would have beaten UT last year.

Their team last year had a nice record but was not as good as the previous two years with the coach who took over Wisconsin. IMHO, they will be a little worse still this year.

If they are getting rosy camp reports at this point then there is a very good chance that they aren't getting coached near as hard as Jones is coaching UT... Jones is dissatisfied because UT isn't perfect. I can pretty much guarantee that USU is well short of perfect... yet the rosy reports.

Wow. The part I found funny in all those USU fan posts is the fact that we really are gonna throw them a beating. The bath salts are strong in their fan base. I think Lane and Hurd are gonna rip them a new aggiehole.

This is why we wait all year for that first game. This is reason that college football is so great , everybody believes that their team is either the best or can play 4 quarters with anybody else. I myself believe he is right , we will have an I opening experience about the third quarter when we start to gel and find our rhythm. GBO! :clapping:

Purple drank+blue dye=USU has a better defense than Florida+USU is equal to Mississippi State

I'm a homer, but I at least try to be objective about another team's talent level. Chuckie Keeton is good. They have a moderately good defensive line.

It seems like their homers have zero clue about the amount of young talent that we have. Plus, Neyland on a long weekend isn't exactly like a road trip to Fort Collins or Laramie.

I'll be posting my "what other message boards are saying" threads again this year. I've already got utah state's ready, I'll release it the week of the game. It's got some serious gems in it. Everything to them is about wins, strength of schedule is completely irrelevant. They believe that since they've won more recently, they are the superior program.

And they constantly repeat how they are "loaded with NFL talent". They've had 17 players go pro in the entire history of their program.

They we're right. That monsoon definitely opened my eyes.

Ha! I remember being crouched next to a concession stand and still getting soaked from the rain blowing in sideways.

Then I looked down and realized that about 20 of us were standing in a puddle of water where a live extension cord happened to be.

I retract my previous comments about the lack of arrogance from Utah State. I know it's a couple of selected fans, but...

They have suffered an equal amount of attrition as we have from 2013-2014, we play at home and are a more talented football team from top to bottom. We have a clear edge in this game.

wow fans that believe in their team..

Some of our regulars around here need to take notes..

of course they are wrong, we are going to destroy them. They do not have the speed or size to stay with us for long. They might make it a half decent game through the first quarter or so if Utah's coach hypes them up on enough emotions.

But lets face it.. we have third teamers that would be starting for them.

They have one player that has a chance to make it to the NFL. And I can name 10 off the top of my head that have a solid chance from our team.

to be fair, I bet Oklahoma fans said these exact same things about Boise

Dang.

I was in the upper north endzone. We were under the overhang but that helped none. Ended up going to the top and were still getting pelted as if from a firehose. I remember hugging and sheilding my wife. After we were thoughly soaked everybody that was left started singing Rocky Top and dancing. Helped that there wasn't a short supply of warmth in a bottle. Most were well prepared.
