why would CBJ's seat be getting hot ? he has done a great job so far,he doesn't have to win the SEC East at all,he is improving the program each and every year so far

so why should some fans be saying this ? I would be interested in knowing why

May not be a popular sentiment on this board but to think Butch Jones' seat will be hot for not winning the east is really just ignoring the awesome job he has done to this point. If we lose to ALA then either UGA or UF it will be an uphill climb. But that doesn't mean 10-2 translates to coaching search. I highly doubt the program wants to go through that again. Disappointed to not win the east, yes. Fire CBJ, doubt it. We finally have talent to compete in this league - Thanks to CBJ - but that in no way means win the league or pack your bags.

That firing a reasonably successful coach is even being discussed now would indicate that some "fans" are incapable of learning anything. Or maybe there's a big gulf between learning and comprehending.

CBJ should be given several more years at the very least, before any discussion of a hot seat begins

of course a lot of fan bases think firing a coach because he isn't winning at what the fans considers to be a desirable level, seems to be the thing these days

If u don't think beating Florida is a big deal then u must of been under a rock for the last 11 years . No matter how much better we were then Florida we have found a way to lose to them . IT STOPS NOW !!!!!!

We haven't been better. Last year the gap was the closest and yet they had better upperclassmen. Our freshmen and sophomore class were really the only ones better. They're junior and senior classes totally outclassed us. See the NFL draft.

Don't be one of those . We were the better team last year . And a few years before that also . Juniors and seniors drafted doesn't mean as much as it used to because most teams have freshman and sophomores playing

Winning every game is psychologically beneficial. I coulda said the same thing about Georgia last year.

My post was simply to counter the argument that Florida was somehow special.

Georgia, Alabama, Florida. All those games are equally important. Only reason Florida is more important this year is because it comes first.

Florida and Georgia are more important because they're in the East.

Totally Agree. Have high hopes by all means, but roads rarely run straight up a mountain, there will be more twists and turns on the way back up Rocky Top, but Coach Jones has brought us this far and it beats **ll out of where we were before he got here. It's crazy to be talking 'hot seat’. Tennessee is playing Football again!

Maybe by the end of the year. But in September Florida was damn good.

Or did you forget them beating an Ole Miss team that just beat Alabama 38-10?

There is a reason Florida had more guys drafted in 2016 than anyone in the SEC. They had TALENT. It might have been concentrated on the defensive side but they had talent.

The answer is simple. Those fans are idiots.

I really think it only applies to fans like you that can't get over the 90s.

Most of our players are 20-21 years old, played less than 3 years in college, and not from the state of Tennessee.

To them Florida kicking Tennessee's butt the last decade is no different than any other good team ( i.e. Alabama and Georgia). They came here to change the program. Beating Alabama is going to be the win that puts them over the top. Not Florida.

"Over the 90s"? We're 3-13 so far in the 2000s. Just so clueless......

Most of those 20-21 year old players have not only never seen Tennessee actually beat Florida, but in fact have personally lost the only 2 or 3 games that they've ever played against Florida....they've fallen right in line with all the other Tennessee Vols players before them.

Also, Jayson Swain, an actual Tennessee Vols former player who would actually know having played for 4 years, has quite a different take on the UT-Florida game and how and what the players (and coaches) think about playing Florida....you on the other hand have no earthly idea.

We've been better many times over the years, including years when you weren't either born or choosing to actually be a Vols fan, when we've lost to Florida.....including each of the last two seasons. It's fact.

I said that because at least during the 90s is arguable we chocked. We were putting the same amount of players into the pros and we were a dominant top 5 program as well.

In the 2000s, the Florida domination was EXPECTED. Tennessee was no longer a top 5-10 program. Hell we struggled to beat Vandy and Kentucky the last 10 years.

15 players drafted vs 0 players drafted in the last 2 years says otherwise.

How can we be better if none of our upperclassmen are getting drafted?

Tenn:

Florida, at Georgia, at Texas A&M, 7th game in a row, No bye week this year. Bodes well for the deepest, most talented team.

Bama may be deeper... More talented?

UT has the edge in experience.

No matter how you slice it, there is probably about a 50/50 chance you come away with a loss in Knoxville this year.
