I get that, but a school with the tradition of Tennessee shouldn't resort to storming the field against a lesser team, and from just about all accounts Florida is the lesser team this season. Time will tell.
I get 1998...both teams ranked in the Top 5/10, night game, exciting and spontaneous ending for you guys.
I've witnessed fans from FSU (96), UT (98), Auburn (01) and Ole Miss (02) storm the field after beating us, and in every case those schools were the underdog.
Exactly my sentiments. I made a similar point a page or two before this one. If we were to rush the field, it would make our program a target to be laughed. Yes, we haven't beaten the Gators in 11 years, but this season it's a home game, we arguably are more talented than you all at most positions, we are the prohibitive SEC East favorite, and we have more experience at the skill positions than most other teams in the conference.
All that together makes for a pretty convincing case as to why we are the favorite. Now, whether we win the game or not is a different story. But if UT, a potentially Top 7-12 team when the Gators come to town were to rush the field after beating a team that at best will probably be #15-#20 at that point and a Touchdown underdog, it would just look bad.
The only team we should "rush the field" against would be Bama. Almost as long of a losing streak as Florida, defending National Champs, will be a Top 5-10 team when we play them, and could have playoff implications.
I really hope fans contain themselves if we can finally end the streak this year.
