Recruiting Football Talk VII

Not trying to argue, just trying to help yall understand how special that horse was. If it was steroids that caused him to be so elite and destroy that field, he would have done it at the Derby and Preakness. However, as the length of the races got longer, he won by more. Then the Belmont comes and is the longest race of the 3, on top of being the last leg in a very short time period for 3 races to occur against the top competition. Thoroughbreds aren’t made to race that frequently against the best of the best. It’s why it is so hard to win all 3. You have to legit be the best of the best to overcome increasing distances and fatigue. When other horses got tired with each race, Secretriat got stronger. Complete athletic freak…speed and endurance combined into 1 horse!! The only illegal substance that could have helped him do that would be if they were shooting horses up with Epogen (synthetic erythropoietin), which caused them to produce more red blood cells which carry more oxygen, which allows them to not fatigue as fast. I’m not sure that was around in the 70s. It was in the early 2000s, and maybe 90s.
I think it's pretty well established that Secretariat was BY FAR the best race horse in history. It's not something that really even generates an argument, which is saying a lot in these parts.

Wife's business just got taken for 10k through FB ads, despite 2FA and additional security. Still can't make sense of that.

Just 3 days later she got a call from a Knox County Sheriff saying there was a warrant out for her arrest. Normally an extremely level-headed person, she was shook on the phone. Luckily I was there and happened to overhear. As soon as he asked her to go buy a prepaid card to cover a bond, I knew immediately and she hung up and called the dept directly. Ofc a scam. The ph# traced to Oak Ridge and the person on the other end was undoubtedly from East TN.

Scum, all of them.
Can you explain what you mean when you say her business got taken for 10k "through FB ads"? How does a business lose $10K through Facebook ads?

Definitely! Jave was insinuating that he was so great because he was loaded up on steroids, and that is just not the case. In a race that big for that much money, if he was loaded up on them, then everybody else was. He was just that special.

The least expensive way to go deep seas fishing is to do a party boat. Haven't done one in a while but I would expect a full day (you can do a half day but I don't recommend it) would be north of $100/person. Jack is right that Daytona, Ponce inlet wouldn't be bad. If you drive a bit further south to west palm, you'll be closer to the gulf stream and good fishing. I think there are more artificial reefs the further south you go too. That style of fishing is just straight drop to the bottom, usually 100 feet or so deep. You'll catch snapper, sea bass, and other reef type fish. It's very regulated now so I'm not sure what you're allowed to keep.

If you really want to increase your chances, you can go on down to the Keys. Going out of Key Largo or Marithon is close to really good fishing. When fishing is closer you'll have many more choices on small center console charters. It will be more expensive than the aforementioned party boat. It won't be crazy though. You can do some reef fishing, and some sport trolling for Mahi, king, wahoo, etc.

I watch some YouTube channels that you might enjoy, Stanzfam is a charter boat captain but he's killing it on YouTube so I'm not sure how much he's doing and he is expensive. South Florida fishing Channel is just a dude with a boat but you can get an idea to what you can catch in the northern keys.

I also watch Victor who's channel is Landshark outdoors. He fishes out of Pompano or West palm I believe. They catch all kinds of species and its usually close to shore. He fishes with another guy occasionally that I think runs charters, I think his channel is movin' weight but I'm not 100% sure. Victor is a world class chef too.
Thanks for the info, I will tell my son and together will make a trip this Summer.

I make him pay he owes old Dad that much...😎
