“I was very happy to see that offer from Tennessee,” said Grimble Tuesday evening. “There was a lot of talk and rumors about the verbal offer from Tennessee being false or true and just a lot of stuff out there that had me going in a lot of directions. To get that offer in the mail and it be official can put those rumors to rest as I know the staff out at Tennessee wants me bad enough to offer me the first day the could.”
While Tennessee was on the ball early for Grimble two other schools were there as well.
“I also got offered by UCLA and Stanford today,” said Grimble. “I won’t say I was confident because that sounds cocky but I was feeling like an offer from both schools was going to come. I went to both camps this summer for both schools and they offered me on the spot. I got the feeling after talking with the staffs after the camps I was going to get an offer from them as well.”
Being offered early isn’t a new reality for Jalen as his cousin, Xavier, committed to the USC Trojans back in the spring has been here before.
“I saw this happen with Xavier so it’s not new to me,” said Grimble. “People wonder though if SC having my cousin going there if that means I will follow him. It’s not true. My high school team has guys going to Cal, SC, and Utah and people try to pull me to follow to those schools or go to this school. I am looking for what is best for me and right now I currently have no favorites, none. I am totally open you could say.”
While being totally open to any and every school looking at Jalen, VolNation.com got a chance to check in on Bishop Gorman’s season and how this talented defensive end is doing.
“We’ve played one game and we won by a good amount,” said Grimble. “I played well I thought. I didn’t put my team into position to lose or to cover my mistake. I know I can play better and I will play better in the future.”
With his team currently 1-0 Grimble spoke about his goals for the season.
“I have one goal in my sights right now, to win state for this senior class,” said Grimble. “I don’t have any goals for stats on my own or all-region or anything. I just want to win my seniors a title. Whatever I can do to help us get that title I will do.”
With getting an early offer from the Tennessee coaching staff VolNation.com will keep you updated on all news regarding the 2011 class and also where the Vols stand with this talented defensive end.
