la'el collinsVolNation recently introduced you to Jeremy Hill out of Baton Rouge, LA in the 2011 class. Now VolNation introduces the man in front of Hill who paves the highway for the talented back. Meet La’El Collins (Baton Rouge, LA/Redemptorist HS). Collins is a 6’5 285 pound lineman that has received offers from some of the best schools in the southeast. VolNation caught up with this talented player to see where the Vols currently stand.

“I’d say our season is going pretty well,” said Collins. “Right now I don’t really try to focus on anything outside of winning games and getting our team to play at the best level possible. I like the fact that teams know we can run the ball and yet we can still do it pretty well. I think on personal level I am playing pretty well but there is always room to improve.”

While Collins has helped guide his team to a winning record early in his junior campaign college coaches have already come calling and some have offered scholarships.

“Right now I have a good amount of offers and yes Tennessee is one of them,” said Collins. “I have offers from Colorado, Cal, Florida, Florida State, Tennessee, Oklahoma State, LSU, and Houston. Out of those early offers LSU, Florida, Florida State, and Tennessee stand out to me.”

So what makes Tennessee stand out?

“Oh well first and foremost I love Coach Kiffin,” said Collins. “I think Coach Kiffin is changing the attitude at Tennessee and they look to be pretty good right now. Also, how can you not like the fan support and atmosphere they create at home. It is crazy there.”

While it is still early for this massive tackle from Baton Rouge, LA Collins did shed some light with VolNation about his checklist for schools.

“Well first of all I want to make sure I can get the best possible education I can get,” said Collins. “I want to have something to fall back onto. Also I want to go somewhere that presents an opportunity to play early. I don’t expect it handed to me but I want to see the field early. A good coach is also very important to me. I want to go to a school where I know I will be coached by the best.”

With the early interest in Tennessee VolNation.com will keep you in the loop for this talented offensive tackle.
