Covington, LA.- Top rated defensive tackle Mickey Johnson has prepared his final list of schools he will consider. It’s a pretty versatile list of top schools and will help Johnson be able to focus on those schools. He is in no position of making a decision soon but will continue to take a few visits and ultimately make his decision sometime after his senior season.
“UCLA, Nebraska, Michigan, Tennessee, and LSU are my final 5 in that order. I’m going to take 4 official visits, I won’t take one to LSU since it’s so close. I may enter a 5th visit down the line but we’ll see. I’m up to over 40 total offers right now so it’s been tough to narrow them down.”
Mickey mentioned that a couple of his top 5 schools are coming especially hard.
“Nebraska and Tennessee are coming hard. Coach Terry Joseph is recruiting me from Tennessee. He’s a cool guy, he’s been telling me about the new facilities they are building. It’s a huge stadium and I really want to learn more about them on my official visit up there.”
Most of the top players in Louisiana have felt a connection to the LSU staff and decided to stay in state. Johnson admitted he feels a lot of pressure to follow.
“There are a lot of people around me telling me to go to LSU. Telling me it’s close to home, but I don’t feel the the pressure though. I’m just looking for good academic programs and good coaching staffs.”
Everybody is recruiting Johnson as an interior lineman. He also mentioned he has no preference of defense.
