Jabriel names early top 3

The dead period has provided high school recruits with a little more breath time to sit back and take a look at the schools some have heard from and reflect. Often times these young student athletes can get overwhelmed with letters, phone calls, visits, text messages, facebook messages, and numerous other attempts to sway them this way or that way. Jabriel Washington is not an exception to this rule. He has received 13 offers at this point in time. And most are from some of the elite schools in the country. Tucked away at Trinity Christian Academy in Jackson, TN, Jabriel took some time to update things with his recruitment.

“Right now I think I have 13 offers. Some of the offers I can think of are LSU, Georgia, Tennessee, Ohio State, Georgia Tech, Texas A&M, Florida State among others. I’ve been hearing a lot from Oregon as well. Right now I would have to say my early top 3 are LSU, Tennessee, and Georgia in no order. I’m not ready to commit or anything like that. Just a couple early top schools. Some schools are looking at me for defensive back, some are looking at me for wide receiver. I think LSU wants me to play DB, Tennessee wants me to play wide receiver, and Georgia likes me for either one. Tennessee is sending me more mail than anyone right now, they also have been sending coaches by the school.”

Currently Jabriel is playing basketball for his high school. At 5’11 165 lbs they have been playing him at the guard position. He’s also taken several unofficial visits this year and spoke about those visits.

“I went to LSU for the game against Florida, I saw Tennessee against Alabama and Western Kentucky, I also went to Illinois when they hosted Penn State. Right now I expect I will take some more visits during the summer and spring time. I’m sure I’ll get over to Tennessee, but I also think I’ll go to Oregon’s and LSU’s camps as well. I think I will very likely take a visit to Oregon as one of my official visits. My dad talks to most of the coaches that call for me, he is helping me a lot with recruiting. I’m also getting ready to go to the Under Armour combine in Orlando.”

Jabriel also took a few minutes to talk about what he is looking for in a school and his early plan for recruiting.

“I will probably take all 5 official visits, I don’t think I will commit early. I believe it will be after my senior season of football. I’m just looking for the best opportunity at the school I choose. I believe I understand the game very well, I think I’m a pretty versatile player. I want to get faster though, work on my speed.”
