KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Tennessee fans can begin planning tailgate parties as the Southeastern Conference revealed kickoff times for the Volunteers’ first three games on Thursday.
Tennessee will open its season on the SEC Network for the second-consecutive year when it faces Bowling Green at LP Field in Nashville onSept. 5. The first meeting between the two schools will kick off at 4:00 p.m. ET. The Vols are 6-1 in games shown on the SEC Network, which will begin its second season in 2015.
It will be the second time that UT has opened a season at the home of the NFL’s Tennessee Titans, after defeating Wyoming there, 47-7, to lift the lid on the 2002 season. The Volunteers have played at LP Field on four prior occasions, having previously faced Vanderbilt there in 2000 and 2002 in addition to the Wyoming game and the 2010 Music City Bowl against North Carolina.
UT will host its first Big XII opponent in Knoxville since Texas Tech in 1997 as Oklahoma comes to Neyland Stadium for a 6:00 p.m. ET kickoff on ESPN on Sept. 12. The game will be the Sooners’ first in Knoxville and the fourth all-time meeting between the two programs.
A week later, UT will host Western Carolina on Sept. 19 at 7:00 p.m. ET on ESPNU. The first game between the two teams will mark Tennessee’s first appearance on ESPNU since the 2013 season finale, a 27-14 victory at Kentucky. The Volunteers are 6-0 all-time on ESPNU.
