Here's one to ponder. We know Saban recruits at a level seldom challenged. But, what if Saban was the coach of this Tennessee team? Would the record be the same? I think the Vols would have beaten A&M and SC had Saban been the coach.

Tennessee should have won with the roster it had, but I've got to think if they go down there with a healthy Kamara, they get the win. It should have been fine anyway, but injuries really sliced into that margin for error.

I slept about two hours Wednesday night (Thursday morning), but I am still walking on air. The best part is all of my friends and family know how much I love the Cubs and the congratulations from people I care about really makes me happy. I got emails at work from people who had been gone more than 10 years to congratulate me. It is an unreal, amazing, fantastic, feeling and it is not wearing off even one bit :)

I have always been a Brave fan cause I leave about 2 hrs away and growing up it was the closest Pro team. I remember when I was a kid listen and then watching Harry Cary do his thing in the 7th inn. If I remember right he would also during the game give shouts to fans weather they had been long time fans or their Birthday. And when I was a kid they only played day games. No lights. lol Great tradition man.

Congrats, buddy!

My wife is a long time Chicago Bears fan. I wonder how many years it will take for da Bears to win a Super Bowl? :thud:

In recent years, 9-3 would have been an amazing finish and most of us would be thrilled. Especially after clawing just to be in a bowl game not so long ago. However, this season it is a failure. I was mad about the A&M loss but understood with the injuries and also was proud of the team fighting back just to take them to overtime. Their fight has never returned since. Rolled over against Alabama and never showed up against SC despite having everything to play for. The worst loss under CBJ even with all of the injuries. The only way to turn it around would be to win out dominating the rest of the schedule, Florida losing 2 games, get into the championship, and somehow win the game. Realistically most of these things aren't going to happen. And right now I don't think we can beat Kentucky or Vanderbilt unless this team really comes together.

A battered defense still did a good job at USCjr, you'll never make me believe otherwise that the Hurd situation wasn't a huge distraction for the O and cost us the game!!

The Cubbies are the feel-good story of all of a sports team for all of my 37 years. Impossible to not feel good for Chicago and their fans.

Congrats man!

Another failure by Butch- letting Hurd travel with the team to SC. A critical game for us to have a chance to go to Atlanta and he knows all of this is simmering, yet allows him to travel and start! Only to see it blow up in his face. Should have had the balls to show him the door in the bye week and we are probably sitting at 6-2 now with a much more optimistic outlook.

Dobbs cost us the game by playing terrible. Hurd cost us the game with his bad attitude. The coaches cost us the game by failing to see how off Dobbs was and not putting the game in Kelly's hands completely.

I believe all to be true.

Agreed! Dobbs play was due to Hurd being a distraction. Kelly was out to prove his worth!

Hindsight is 20/20. Assuming that the reports are true, (that he left it up to a team vote) he had served his punishment, the rest is on Hurd and his self-centered, me first attitude.

My biggest knock on our defense is our inability to stop anyone inside the red zone. It seems like every time a team gets inside our 20 yard line they score a touchdown.

Let's say UF loses to Arkansas and Lsu, Tennessee wins out winning all games by 14+. Would the excitement around here be back?

Would the SoCar loss be considered a Fluke?

Absolutely, this is what I told my Dad. I can live with one big upset loss with all the injuries and the locker room issues.

I knew we would lose two of the 4 in that streak, so if we only have one other fluke game and we bounce back strong and get to Atlanta AND GIVE THE WEST TEAM A GOOD GAME AT LEAST, then I would consider the season a big success.

Beat UF, Beat UGA, Beat VT, Win the East, Probably finish in the top 15 or so in that scenario after a Capitol One type bowl win.

Not the best possible outcome this team could have had, but still a successful one.

I'm generally a posi-Vol, but no way would the excitement be back.

The tone will be, "So what? Now we just get our a**** handed to us again by Bama and go to a lame bowl game."

Win the SEC, and folks may get chipper.

I'm still on the fence about what is a better perception:

1. Win the East, lose the SEC Championship.
2. Lose the East, win out, including the bowl game.

I'd rather just

3. Win the East, win the SEC, win the bowl game, and go home happy.

I just think if we win the East (it would be winning the East because us and FL would both be 0-2 vs West and we beat them head to head) and go 10-4 with our best record in a decade there is no way you can't be happy with that.

IF we had gone though this year with Sutton, Reaves Maybin, Kirkland Jr, McKenzie, Tuttle, O'Brien, Kamara, all the OL, Sapp, McDowell, Abernathy, Foreman, Berry and on and on and on mainly healthy and had those results, I'd be a bit more down. But people shrugging of those injuries IRK me.

If JRM and Sutton both went pro last year, you know and I know we would not have been picked to win the East this year. That is basically what we've been playing with but worse because all offseason we prepared like we would have them both as the key cogs to our team. And to make matters worse we've had other significant injuries to the players right behind them in their positions.

I for one will be very happy still with the trajectory of our program IF we close out with 3 big wins and a battle in the Dome and a bowl win.

Fulmer coached TN for 17 years and only won the SEC twice.

It isn't a all or nothing goal.

The majority of us are so upset over this loss, but the reality is good teams lose games they shouldn't every year; OSU losing to Penn St for example. The 90's Vols lost some games where they had a much greater talent gap than team 120 vs USCe.

I hate that we lost to an inferior team, but there are 4 games left and I hope CBJ and crew can get their heads on straight and finish strong. It is very possible UF drops 2 more. We only get 3-4 months a year to watch Tennessee football, I'm going to try to enjoy it.

Need to win we one we shouldn't to make up for USCjr for season to be a success. Not sure we get the opportunity though unless Gators lose two of their next 3.

Also to add to that, now I don't think the coaches should get extensions for those results and I still think Butch needs to make major changes in his offensive staff. But mainly I am saying those results would not have me questioning the overall trajectory of the program under CBJ.

I really think Dobbs has been a liability and if JG can be a legit passer this offense could take off with the right playcaller.

I'll let you know at the end of the season on how I feel. Right now, everything seems off, but this has been a whacky year anyway.
