Game Thread: (7/7) Lady Vols 56 - (10/9) Connecticut 75

I would expect them to hit around #15 or so, and if they drop the next one or two they'll get one stop at #23 before being removed from the poll. Losing three of the last four is going to give them some downward momentum in the voters eyes. Especially this one.

I didn't, but it doesn't take a rocket scientist.to figure out that those would be warm-up shots for her
I looked at Fudd's 3 point shots on replay. I think only one was defended. On a couple of other shots someone stepped up late to put up a hand and the rest she was wide open. I listened to Coach Harper's post game and she said that the game plan was to defend Fudd. Had UT been able to limit her 3 point baskets it might have been a different game.
Too embarrassed to list the schools the first time. I don't blame you.
Massey SOS UT 11, UConn 4. Massey rating Depaul 40 and Creighton 39. Providence and St John's are cream puffs. All are conference games.

Rewatch the game. Key was blocked twice, once by Muhl.
I didnt say all 7 werent blocks. I said the drives like the one Rae drove into the lane and forced a shot into the hands of a bigger player wasnt a block even though technically it is a block. But it was another dumb decision that caused it. Not the defense making an actual block.

Kellie is a good coach, however she is not Pat Summitt. She said as much when she took the head coaching job at UT. Pat could motivate her players to good play performance, Kellie lacks this capability. She will restore UT as an elite WCBB team when she is able to recruit more players like Horston.

Let's stop comparing Harper or anyone else to Summitt. Summitt coached mostly in the early years of women's college basketball. The sport is a lot different today--it is FAR more competitive. Summitt had a very talented roster almost every year. Harper does not--and that's her biggest challenge. Think about this team without Horston. Actually, don't: It would not be a pleasant experience.

I was thinking no lower than 12-13.

Alex, we should all be so blessed…good for you and your mom.

She tends to back down to tall physical players. Boston is going to eat her alive!
She has played some great games this year versus other bigs and I cannot recall her “backing down”, she has little help down low and is tangled with two defenders mostly. When she gets an inlet pass near the rim she is smothered. Key isn’t getting a bunch of help to look good lately.
Key has played well against Boston before, she gives Boston a tough game. She gives most bigs a tough game if she gets some help.

This is what happens when you try to plug holes with mid-major players, and Kellie currently has three of them in the starting lineup...

What's wrong with mid-major players? Tennessee lost to a mid-major team today, comprised entirely of (by definition) mid-major players. If those mid-major players are good enough to beat Tennessee by 19 points, why wouldn't they be good enough to play for Tennessee?

I was thinking no lower than 12-13.

Could be that you're right, but with both the recent losses and how unprepared Tennessee was today, I don't know if we're past the "forgiveness" phase at this point.

Signing "more top recruits"????

You don't consider Pissott a top recruit?

Oh, I forgot. You've been "wondering" whether the latest losses have "opened Pissott's eyes" and whether Marta will ever play again," speculating that White will fire Harper, Striplin is "a candidate for transfer," and that the assistants' "repuations are on the line if top recruits aren't signed, and signed on to encouraging Saunders to leave. That's just some of the "support" you've been able to bless this program with.

You praise CONN so much; ironically, you'd be banned from The Boneyard if you posted that garbage about its team on that site.

Who comes back for UT next year? Idon’t know the covid years or who is eligible for WNBA picks well enough to know this.

Without Green's leadership. I'm not sure that we are even a top-25 team. By tournament time, we should be in the underdog role. No glue on team.
Green is still on the bench. It's not like she died.

If they collapsed so bad because she can't lead on the court for 13 min/game, then they got bigger issues.

She’s been so disappointing, not only today, but the whole season for me. Her defense has been HORRIBLE this, she gets lost SO much!
Never had to play defense at Troy. That's probably the biggest difference, along with playing extended consecutive minutes.

I thought she'd be a better offensive threat than she's shown, tbh
