The Section 103 Postgame Report-Mississippi State

Meeks was held in check, the SC big guys were enough to counter Patterson, and the other 10 players with minutes for UK had 13 points between them. The game was over before the half.

SC set a school record with 20 blocks, and oddly enough, about half of them came against Patterson, and probably half of those were dunks rejected. I don't think I've ever seen anybody struggle more and still wind up with 28 & 12.

I watched the second half and saw Patterson get 2 dunks rejected. That is now 2 out of 3 games that UK has been blown out.

Hopson looks like he is developing and becoming more comfortable with the bigger quicker players he is facing this year. While I was hoping he would be a D. Rose impact player this year for us, I believe he will have that impact next year if he continues to improve.

Is section 103 the one with the guy constantly yelling "WOOOSH" or something to that effect when we're on defense?

#5 pissed me off so much. That was just trashy looking.

Can we not get any good halftime entertainment?

The guy with the mic made it even worse.

"We have shooting now........um......Katrina.....she's ummmmmm..........okay.............are you ready.........she's an English Major from New York.........um.........EA Sports"

The day will never come that Hopson is half the player Rose is.

A must needed win is a must needed win. Hat, I agree about the poor student showing, looked about like 300 showed up from a possible 3,000. Must be a lot of tests this week or something. Also, glad Scotty has finally settled in. This is key for the Vols down the stretch. Tyler did not score his avg but the rest of the team picked them up. Would love to see Peal's dominance over Donovan continue and pick a win up on the road at the same time. Go Vols!

I've never noticed it, but I've become pretty skilled over the years at drowning out idiotic noises at sporting events.

Everyone I know is going through exams right now...not to excuse a complete lack of attendance. I expect student attendance to be down, but damn, that was ugly.

He looked good tonight against a very average defensive team but where did this 5 star rating for Hopson come from? I mean hes not bad for a freshman but he has done nothing to show he is a 5 star player. He's a good athlete but doesnt have alot of basketball IQ, plays out of control, and has terrible shooting form. I dont see him ever developing into a 5 star guy. I think he will be a solid player by the time his career is over and maybe average 15 or 16 a game or so but he will never be a dominant player at UT. He's the kind of guy we will be saying next year, next year until he is gone and then we get to gripe for the next 20 years about how big of a bust he was.

Funny how half assed basketball will do that to fans.

Thank you- don't throw down on the students for not showing up... they chose academics over basketball- and given the way this team has been playing, I wouldn't disagree with that decision.

Oh, one last thing- the students deserve their seats as much as everyone else, actually- maybe even more so. Without students, there is NO university- remember that for the future... UT is a UNIVERSITY not a sporting complex, as some would lead us to believe.

I disagree. He is improving every game. Tonight, he drove to the lane hard and with confidence against one of the best shotblocking (and shot altering) team in college basketball.
If he can learn to get his jumpshot up quicker, then he will be dangerous.

hopefully this freshman is coming out of his shell and peaking at just the right time. If so, our tourney hopes improve drastically!

1. If you believe the vast majority of students who missed the game last night did so because they were studying, you're naive to the 2,777th power.
2. Save your pious lecture about how nothing would exist without the students. Those of us who live in reality know that there is one commodity that keeps that university in existance: Money. Take the donor money away and see how long the students keep the place running.

Yea, because donors and alumni have nothing to do with the athletics program...

What, you mean you are implying students didn't pay for the construction and renovation of TBA?

In your opinion do we sneak one of these road games out? I'd say our best shot comes sunday. Carolina is hot right now, downey will probably pull a meeks on us.

Hat: is Darrin Horn legit, or are they just shrugging off the aftereffects of Dave Odom hanging on entirely too long? Or is their roster (other than Downey) simply better than advertised?

We are absolutely awful on the road. Especially from a hustle standpoint. Funny how that works.

Downey doesn't have meeks style scoring ability.

I know. Helter skelter with this team, they've wore me out this year. Painful to watch at times and flustrating. We matchup well with the gators, but its at florida, we'll probaby get skulled.

Pathetic student showing. I know there are a lot of exams but hell, I figured there wouldn't be that many but that was terrible.

Nothing in this game showed me that we are a tournament bound team.

Just a note, it is absolutely retarded that the TREC people schedule intermural games at 8:30 and 9:00. You get a $25 fine if you dont show, and if you forfeit a game (total of 3 games), then you are automatically barred from the playoffs.

If we win one of the remaining 2 road games, it will be this weekend's match up with the Gators. I would say our odds are better than 50/50 given Pearl's dominance over them and their complete implosion in the second half of league play.

I think they should just do away with their seats in 123? 124? all together and just give them the section behind the basket

our chances look way better than last week right now so i dont think its crucial that we win that game honestly
