Sadly, women don't watch their own sports much and men prefer to watch the men's games UNLESS the women's version is full of overly sexualized uniforms or something.

If you look at the top NIL women in college all of 'em are basically modeling to get the $ they get.
I disagree. Men would watch women's sports if it's a good product. My wife loved watching the LV's, but she can't stand pretty Holly as a coach.

You can disagree, and not ALL men just want to sexualize women athletes, but based on viewership and numbers it's sadly the case. I grew up watching Pat win the bulk of her championships. The product has without a doubt gotten worse imo.

"would watch" is a hypothetical though and I'm not real sure how you improve the product to pull more male viewership. I think female sports really just need to pull more female viewers honestly. The male audience has a product they're loyal to, real difficult to pull those viewers over. It's also real difficult to pull new viewers in as well, so I don't know how you fix it really.

9.9 million viewers.
For Women's National Championship game . LSU vs Iowa .

I bet there was a hell of lot of men watching the game. I was and not afraid to admit it.

I agree with this. Used to watch it religiously because Pat always had them discipline and playing good basketball.. it was very fun back in the day. Now, it just looks like a bunch of undisciplined brats. No offense to the ladies that actually work hard.

From Tennessee Ice Vols website: “Founded in 1966, the University of Tennessee Ice Vols Hockey program is the oldest and most established hockey program in the southeastern United States. Throughout the years, the Ice Vols have enjoyed their share of success while forging great rivalries and great memories for all of the players involved; from the original puck drop against Miami University of Ohio Redhawks and the victories over Alabama-Huntsville Chargers, to the timeless Georgia Tech rivalry and the victory in the Inaugural SEC Hockey Tournament in 2009. The Ice Vols have made multiple appearances in the national tournament as well as the College Hockey South tournament. We have teams at both the Division 2 and Division 3 levels of the Amateur Athletic Union.”

Conversely, the men’s championship game (UConn over San Diego State) on CBS averaged a record low 14.69 million viewers.

A record low and they still had almost 5 million more viewers. But yeah LSU with Angel Reese and Iowa with Caitlin Clark was a huge draw matchup, I think Clark has been big for the women's game and she's fun to watch. But Clark gets so much negative media attention from other former women players...some of which are just making up stats to fit their narrative (Sheryl Swoopes for example, who has since apologized).

In the early 90’s…. they still had to play the women before the men’s games to get people in the stands…Bill Burr is right…. women support the Kardashians and they make millions…. womens sports would be the same way if women supported them.

The thought process behind sending nudes over the interwebs is so dumb, especially for a big name like his. You gotta know people are gonna spread your business. Thought Grant was a genius lol
Making a dumb decision doesn't mean someone isn't smart. Just means they made a dumb decision and are human. Unfortunately some bad decisions become very public. All he can do now is push through it.

I agree with this.

People who watch basketball aren't just going to watch bad basketball, but lord you can't say WNBA is "bad basketball" without getting absolutely taken to task as a media person I've noticed.

I don't like the NBA product much with the current era of defense optional. But man is there some really good basketball being played.

But great players draw a crowd, Chamique Holdsclaw is still a top 5 basketball player in Vol history for me and watching her got me into being a fan of the sport. I started following the Softball team because of Monica Abbott.

The NBA is objectively pretty bad. I would guess the all star game probably had its lowest viewership ever this past weekend

I don't think it's objectively bad. But it's very much an offense only league right now and that leads to some bad games.

VERY streaky, it's so weird to see a team up by 16 lose by 20... but if you go cold and the other team gets hot that's what happens in today's game. I miss real defensive teams existing like the Ben Wallace Pistons

Right. Smart isn’t always sensical. Bro thinking with the wrong head on that one. Maybe he’ll have conversations with the reverend and get right.

I never even realized UT had a hockey program.

It isn't something that needs to be fixed. It's not a negative thing that requires improvement. It's just a fact of the matter. The entertainment value in sports is largely due to watching people do fetes of athleticism that the ordinary person can't do. Women's sports offer a lower degree of that than men's. It's not bad, and it's not broken. It just is.

Even in the peak of the Pat/Geno rivalry with several of the best all time women's basketball players on the court at the same time, I didn't enjoy the game itself more than an average men's game, just the drama of seeing who would win.

I said 15 because the post said "15 years in the making" I actually had no idea.

I figure the 15 years reference in the post was to 2009 when the SEC formed an actual league?
