Interesting article in the Greenville News about Dabo’s recruiting woes. It’s a pay site so I added a tinge of context.

CLEMSON — It's no secret that Clemson football relies on high school recruitment rather than the transfer portal.

The Tigers were one of four FBS schools that did not land a transfer in the 2024 cycle. Clemson coach Dabo Swinney pursued four offensive linemen during the winter period but didn't land any. Yet, a troubling trend has started for the Tigers on the 2025 recruiting trail.

During the past six weeks, Clemson has missed out on several high school recruits who had listed the school as a finalist, like wide receiver Cortez Mills, offensive lineman Hardy Watts and cornerback Gregory Xavier Thomas, all four-star prospects. The Tigers did land four-star edge rusher Bryce Davis on Saturday to snap the team's recruiting drought, but their pursuit of several five-star recruits, including defensive lineman Elijah Griffin and offensive linemen Davis Sanders Jr. and Josh Petty, has also cooled, according to 247Sports.

They're still #11 on the 247 Composite. The resurrection of Vol football probably is hurting them as much as anything, since we traditionally have competed with them for Georgia recruits. CJH will keep turning the heat on and they'll be back to early 2000's level before it's over.

1. Dabo being dabo (cult allegations, anti nil & portal)
2. Fsu finally having a pulse (direct yoy on-field competition)
3. UT (hs recruiting aspect & 🍊 bowl dub)
4. Miami (recruiting their fair share of south florida kids)
5. Maybe conference instability (sec/big dont want them)

Probably a combination of some of the teams in the ACC starting to come back around (FSU and Miami), success of other regional teams (UT, UGA) that were down when Clemson made their run, and being passed by in the NIL and portal.
Can’t help but wonder if the $ from the megachurch dried up, too. The pastor who was there during that time resigned for substance abuse, but has since started another church that is nowhere near as big, and the original church is completely out of debt now, which was definitely not the case. They do still have players attend services as guests of some of the Pastors, but you don’t see Dabo or the big name players from their run at all anymore. The time line is crazy 🤷‍♂️
If Beamer and SCjr were worth a dang, you wouldn’t hear much out of Clemson, I think. He beats Beamer and that’s why he stays around.

Dabo lost his best recruiter when Moron Jones was fired. Trevor Lawrence, Tee Higgins, Etienne all grew up Vol fans and were turned off by Mr Brick by Brick. And no telling how many others we don't know about.

But give him credit, Guarantano did fit his system. :)

Moron Jones. I really hope that’s a typo

Clemson has the #6 class on On3 with only 14 commits. Man they are really struggling.

Yet Dabo has out recruited us every year since Botch was fired except for last year.

Dumbo Swiney,Who really cares what that hambone ,does a couple of years ago,?After his OC and DC left,he was waxed by us in the bowlgame, the fall became apparent.Let him dangle. If he goes 9-4 and gets a playoff birth, then al know the ncaa and tv fix is doing well.

And your point is? How many recent Clemson signees grew up huge Vol fans and were turned off and or ignored by our idiot Head Coach.

Vols have only ever played 14 games in a season one time - 2007, finished 10-4
Dabo has WON 14(+) games 4 times, same as Saban.

He wins 9 games to finish off a 12-year double digit win streak and yall talkin bout him like he’s Pruitt, I’d kill for Tennessee to duplicate that level of success.
