Awaka has been gone for 2 seasons. Aidoo might have had something to do with it, I don’t know, but Aidoo played an entire season with us after Awaka left.

Edit: I’m an idiot. Either my brain can’t believe that the last year of time has only been a year of time, or I was getting Awaka mixed up with Olivier Nkamhoua

It was a combination of things, but part of it was our guys were stepping out to use cold spray and he thought up should have been speeding them up. The hilarious part is we proceeded to hit a home run immediately following his outburst. I think it was actually a ploy to get his team fired up, but it backfired.

IIRC - Awaka was bothered by Aidoo and Carr, with Aidoo being the biggest annoyance. He had also got tampered with to go to St. John's which is closer to home for him. We committed to retaining both Aidoo and Carr so he hit the portal and was expected to go to St. John's but (I think) we put a stop to that with a tampering report.

And then, Aidoo left for Arkansas without warning after just giving the staff his word that he was staying.

After Aidoo left, Awaka was back in the fold but I think the relationship was soured at that point and mentally he was already gone. He found a good landing spot at Zona.

Honestly, I'm not as pissed at Awaka as I am Aidoo. I think Tobe felt we picked Aidoo over him and he had major issues with Aidoo's work ethic and mentality.

That said, Idk if either improved themselves this year. Aidoo is work-ethic related. Tobe looks like he is relegated to just being a rebounder and not a scoring threat. But its working for them.

I think he knew they were screwed because they needed that starter to go 5-7 innings and we were killing him so he decided to go home early.

That or he had a headache and wanted to go home. Tough to say.
