Recruiting Football Talk VIII

Both of those games were ugly for different, yet the same reasons. The second game they literally couldn't miss. Not that they struggles in the first game... But everything went in. Good shots, bad shots, sh*t shots...

I expect this game to be..... Different.

An analyst said it somewhere. Barnes usually struggles the first few matchups against new coaches. But once he solves the puzzle it's lock-down (Nate Oats for example). I think the only coach he's consistently struggled with is Bruce (7-9 I think) and is about .500 with Cal. I think he lost the first matchup to both Oats and Pearl before going on multi-game win streaks against both.

Barnes and Gainey will have an answer defensively and scheming ways to get the guys open looks.

3td time's the charm!

Plus has anyone seen that called a travel in the last 10 years. I sure haven’t.
Most fans have trouble with how to count a "step" based on when the gather occurs. What qualifies as the "end of your dribble" and then if that happens in-between steps does the trail foot still count as a step or not. It's not nearly as easy or simple as most want to act. Especially with the increased skill level of players to adjust the timing of the gather and steps.

Right as the Vols tipped off, the final match of the NCAA Wrestling Championship started.

2nd Lieutenant Wyatt Hendrickson, 5th year SR - Ok State, walked down the tunnel with an American flag wrapped around him. President Trump in attendance.

He was maliciously greeted by Gable Steveson, arguably the greatest wrestler of our time - or all time. Multi-time national champion who forewent his final year eligibility a few years ago to join WWE. The man who didn't give up a single point on his way to an Olympic gold medal in 2020. Gable fell from grace in the WWE, tried to play for the Bills last year, then announced a few months ago he would return to Minnesota to win another championship. He was undefeated all season and didn't allow a single point leading into the final match this weekend.

Gable got in Hendrickson's face to inform him he could wear a flag when he has a gold medal. The ref separated Gable, Wyatt ignored him.

Down 4-2 with 30 seconds left, Wyatt Hendrickson got deep on a shot and was able to finish it. Taking a 5-4 lead and rode Gable out in the final 15 seconds for gold.

"THIS IS THE CRAZIEST MOMENT IN NCAA HISTORY" - Daniel Cormier and Jordan Burroughs

And now the Vols are up 7 after finishing the half strong.
If you don’t follow wrestling. You have no idea how huge this actually was. Biggest upset of all time, any sport? Gable did himself no favors by not riding when he had chances.

I was wondering what this upset could be compared to so we could understand it's magnitude better. Was it like when the yanks beat the ruskies in hockey? Bigger?
