You have no idea. I don't either. But believe what you will.

It is time to stop blaming last years team.
Caldwell is still attacking her former players, it is petty and immature. And that's the nicest thing I have to say about her, so I'll just leave it at that.

The women's basketball version of Butch Jones all over again.

Wow! Going back ten years to find that superior case of butt hurt… 🤕

The witches didn't mean it literally.

The faith of a mustard seed can move mountains.

…and I’ve been using eye of newt. No wonder we’ve been having so much trouble.

In just read that LSU men fired their coach at the end of last season. LSU rehired the coach they fired about 4 years ago for NCAA violations. Present roster status: Not a single returning player, no incoming freshmen, and only two portal additions. Yikes.

We did pretty well.

We could be a final four team or elite 8 ijs, next season or have an Olympic coach ijs as our coach. No we got Kimmie. . Kara is showing us in real time, Lady Vols basketball thru and thru, andr not choosing her was a mistake. Her team has an identity, a culture. Our teams lacks identity and a culture, 3rd year restarting. .Kimmie , nope i dont like the bih,

I dont wanna end up like Stanford, Georgia, Rutgers, Purdue, I started out giving her a chance, she beat Uconn, but this past yesr she looked inept we took a step backward.. I got the Lady Vols blues... Ill be alright after a win. KimmieOkloser Kara LV4L.

There's an old critique of event-oriented evangelistic spectacles that "what you win them with is what you win them to."

Last spring, CKC communicated to her new recruiting staff what she was looking for. Coach Lazo--a terrific personality with the SEC recruiting experience that CKC didn't have--went out and landed some of the top talent that matched the profile, in character, preferred playing style, on court capabilities, speed, length, etc. Looked like a dream team.

I've wondered in retrospect if where we missed on the "personal resiliency & grit" factor might have happened in the sales pitch... if maybe they were "sold" on a Tennessee Lady Vol experience, and a vision of what they could achieve by their sheer accumulation of talent?

I also wonder if CKC might have become more concerned with the question (also beyond her experience) of how that much individual talent could be unified into a close team while sharing so much playing time? I wonder if there might have been an (over-?) emphasis on "what y'all can achieve together" to encourage that team building.

For whatever reason, the starkest difference between now and this time last year appears to be the sales pitch.

The (surprisingly controversial) chip-on-the-shoulder internal motivation has been added to the LV character rubric. The opportunity to represent the Lady Vols was anti-sold this year. You've gotta want to prove who you are, and do whatever it takes to prove that you've earned the right to play on this stage.

Yeah... I don't think there was a lot of "hang another banner and hang with Candace" in the sales pitch this year. ;)
Evangelical sales pitches and I might wave a polite “Hello” to one another from a distance, so I will happily take your word on that topic. As to the rest of your speculation, it all seems reasonable.
Short form: KC screwed the pooch a year ago, learned—the hard way—from her errors, and took corrective action this time. I hope you are right, and the different aims and approach yield a much better team. We should know by December.

Learned--yes.

But I'm not sure how applying common sense and conventional logic by surrounding yourself with the best recruiting assistants who know the SEC (when you don't have that experience) and turning them loose to do what they were hired to do
...can be characterized as screwing the pooch?

Preach! I was literally shaking when she said that her former players were all good players.

She omitted what she has insisted on this year from their brief.
That was a blatant error. Want proof? Look at last year’s results.

Edited to add: The abject failure of the program last season was not due to the young ladies on the court in TN uniforms being morally corrupt, heinous harridans, inept at the game of basketball, as some here insist on claiming.

Tell this LSU MBB fan about it! I also would take Kim over the despicable Will Wade any day. Contrasts sometimes can help you better appreciate what you do have!

Same is true for some on the board - but those are fans, not the coach. The comments from her are subtle but they are there.

Honestly it all seems like a diversion tactic to shift the narrative away from her short comings and lack of experience. The key question for next season is whether she learned anything from the last season as to what it takes to be successful against the best teams in D1 and is she willing to change and make adjustments where needed as teams find ways to beat the system - and they will.

If by some miracle next year's team does a lot better, I guess the hope is that what happened the latter part of last season will be buried with success. The flip side is that if that miracle doesn't happen, we will be back at the same place - these new players will not played with heart, will not have played with the effort necessary, will not have played with a chip on their shoulders, were not good shooters, etc. because it is always the players and never the coaches.

Not nearly as petty or immature of some posters on here who have attacked her from the beginning.

Finally, a useful function for AI:

Eye of newt" in Shakespeare's Macbeth is historically a poetic pseudonym for mustard seed, used by herbalists as a secret code. It was not a real animal eye, but rather part of a traditional, plant-based medicinal recipe rather than a literal magical brew. [1, 2, 3, 4]
Real Plant Ingredients for a "Witch's Brew" (Historical Context)
  • Eye of Newt: Mustard seeds
  • Toe of Frog: Bulb of a buttercup
  • Wool of Bat: Holly leaves
  • Tongue of Dog: Hound's Tongue (plant)
  • Adder's Fork: Adder's-tongue (fern)

So, we now truly do know where this season went wrong and worse still, we now have all these one eyed newts getting disability payments for nuthin'

Wonder what happened to knoxlikeus? This was the poster that was pumping rainbows and unicorns during the rebuild of the roster.
Was a bit to over positive imo.

I had to laugh when he or she posted Caldwell just went federal when a new recruit was revealed.

Kluz, aka kluless, last posted 4/25; the latest “poster …pumping rainbows and unicorns” appeared 4/28. Is there a connection? I do not know; I have read some conspiracy theories 😉.

@1reVOLver, please tell me my usage of caps in my previous post was understood. I have such faith in you. I can never snark like @madtownvol 1778184633577.png, I know my limitations, but I so hoped someone grasped my attempt. You, mad, 98, spo, and brit are the ones I would expect to get it. And no telling on chuck!🧐
