Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

Hunter high.

Are any of these guys were sad to see go?

Haven’t seen Ethan Moore yet so he could potentially be something down the line. The others are no surprise and have had a chance but might need a fresh start.

Except for Bates. Never understood why he didn’t get more of a look when we were rotating bodies at 2B. I’m sure there’s a good reason.

Troy finished 5th in the Sun Belt (admittedly an underrated baseball conference) with a 32-30 overall record, has a team ERA of 5.71 and is a super regional team.

Nearly every team that makes postseason in baseball can be a super regional team if you get the right formula, a few players get hot, and get a little magic. Another reason college baseball is the best.

Well. Major men's and women's sports are now done till the fall.

Football = C+ (no grading on curves with established programs)
Basketball = B+
Baseball = C+ (was going to go harder but he deserves an offseason). Some would say B due to inherited roster (he recruited it). I almost said C because his handling of game situations.
Women's BB = C-
Women's Softball = B+ (kills me the Weekly's cannot get bats).

It was a solid but not great year. I wonder if we will need to become specialists with our NIL the way the champions seem to. Michigan, Ohio State, and Georgia do not care about women's athletics. They also tend to focus on 2 of the 3 men's sports. Georgia = football and baseball. Michigan = football and basketball. Ohio State only football. Indiana only football. I am not saying that's right, but it's providing high ROI where they focus their money. Unless reform occurs at the compliance and federal level with NIL, I do not think you can win championships across all sports. Trying to do so will make all sports decent to good, but not championship level.

I hope they win it all. . . if they weren't greased up with the stank of being in Alabama. . . maybe St John's can win it instead.

Happy Tuesday
Scripture — Proverbs 12:15 (NIV)
“The way of fools seems right to them, but the wise listen to advice.”

Reflection:
This verse isn’t saying wise people never make decisions on their own.
It’s saying wise people stay teachable.
One of the hardest things to do is pause long enough to ask: What if I’m missing something?

Pride tells us certainty equals strength. Scripture teaches something different — humility creates room for growth.

Notice the wording:
“The way of fools seems right to them…”
The danger isn’t always obvious rebellion. Sometimes it’s confidence without reflection. Sometimes it’s assuming our perspective is complete when it’s only partial.

But wisdom listens.
Wisdom weighs.
Wisdom stays open to correction.
That doesn’t mean every opinion should direct your life. It means you remain soft enough before God and trusted counsel to be shaped when needed.

Jesus modeled this kind of humility — never insecure, never unstable, yet always aligned with the Father.
Today is a good day to ask:
Lord, is there anything You are trying to show me that I’ve been too certain to hear?

Prayer:
Lord, thank You for caring enough to guide and correct me. Guard me from becoming so certain in myself that I stop listening to You or to wise voices around me. Give me humility without insecurity and confidence without pride. Help me receive correction with discernment and grow where You are refining me. Teach me to seek truth more than being right and wisdom more than appearing strong. Shape my heart to stay teachable and faithful. Amen.

AP and BH not holding back on Chaz. Sounds like not if, but when.

To me, on outside looking in. Heup has a culture, allows kids to grow. and become adults. The culture holds kids accountable outside the lines. Its a patient approach. Kid's either fit, or go somewhere someone will do that for them.

What a choke job by Florida. They needed to win one of two games against Troy to then host a super regional against Arkansas-Little Rock. They get manhandled in two games and now one of Troy and Arkansas-Little Rock will be in the CWS.

I wonder why baseball doesn’t re-seed but softball does.
Softball doesn’t.
