Can I get some LV, Sab, Jmoore etc to weigh in here?

Who is Eric Russell bringing in this year as a recruiter?
He spent most of his career at North Texas, played in Idaho I believe, so what is his region?

Also who is Terry Joseph recruiting?

Derek's first two hires are nice guys who got a year now at an SEC school. They both had to deal with some injuries but neither set the world on fire really.

Can anyone let me know what stud recruits are being primarily handled by these two...

Please do not provoke wrath by saying that Terry is the RC so he is bringing in all the studs...

DB - 3* Byron Moore Jr., Terry Joseph, Visited Home
DT - 3* Trevarris Saulsberry, Eric Russell, Visited Home - Commited To Tennessee -
DE - 3* Jordan Williams, Eric Russell, Visited Home - Commited To Tennessee -
OL - 3* Mack Crowder, Eric Russell, Visited Home - Commited To Tennessee -
TE - 3* Brendan Downs, Eric Russell, Visited Home - Commited To Tennessee -
RB - 4* Brendan Bigelow - Terry Joseph, Visited Home - Commited To Washington -
DB - 4* Pat Martin, Terry Joseph (Dec 1.) - Commited To Tennessee -
DB - 3* Geraldo Orta, Eric Russell (Dec 1.)
TE - 4* Jay Rome, Eric Russell, (Dec 1.)

So is Russell going to pull Rome?
If he does that would be a great get. Simiarly huge if Joseph turned Bigelow.
I love some of the 3*s especially guys like Mack Crowder, but it was not a huge grab to get them away from someone else.

Pat Martin is a great pull...

and it could be argued that they have not only been weak links but have actually brought nothing to the table. We shall see!

I thought our coverage teams looked pretty good this year for the most part outside of the Oregon game. We just didn't have anyone capable of returning punts or half of the time even catching the damn ball.

Did you just put down the crack pipe? ST's was our best unit (other than punt returning)! Well, at least till the offense blew up in the end of the year.

Please don't forget that the weasel left this fine institution 3 weeks before signing day. Maybe he developed a relationship with these two coaches & they are someone he can really trust. We needed a staff ASAP and that is what he did. Why do we have to hate? It hasn't been quite a year yet lets give everyone a chance before we start criticizing and wanting to fire people.:good!:

I have my doubts about Russell. He was brought in to coach Tight Ends and Special Teams. Last year Stocker was on the verge of being a first round pick, and really he had a disappointing year falling to the 3rd for 4th round. Special Teams needs no explanation. It was pitiful this year. I really hope he can recruit well and get his positions playing a bit better or I'd hope Dooley will be looking for a replacement after next season.

I have faith in Joseph. While he may not be the strongest position coach, I do believe he will get it done on the recruiting trail. It seems he relates with our recruits.

Outside of punt return which special team unit did not improve? No BS truly would like to know. It seemed like coverage was solid enough I did not even worry about it.

I am not trying to defend, however, QB sucked hard early in the year.

Kiper has Stocker in the top four TEs of the draft.

Special teams pitiful? No comprende, bro

The special teams were GREATLY improved.

It is common knowledge that Joseph is becoming a big time recruiter on the trail.

Those 2 aren't going anywhere.

Our special teams had nowhere to go but up. I still don't think they came anywhere close to meeting expectations.

Still finding something to complain about I see...great. :ermm:

someone will always complain. I don't care if we are 12-0 you would hear our OL is just horrible or the QB sux.. Always something.. VFL!! GO VOLS!!! I'm proud of what we have accomplished

Besides the muff punts, special teams coverage on kick offs and punt returns were the best ut had in a while.

I don't see a problem with either, I for one can't stand change for just the sake of change alone, to me it has to make logical sense and i don't see it. The secondary and special teams play improved over the season, but when you have limits from numbers, skills that fit what you need, and just talent in general, you can only do so much. I'd give each another year. Funny side note as I own my business, I've weeded out all the change for just change sake guys, and have keeped all the stay the course guys that are consistent performers. The change guys like had 1 great year and several years of so so production, while the stay the course types had 4 good years not great but over the four year period their overall production was more than the change guy even though the change guy had a record year his lone great year.

Great for Luke but as I don't watch the NFL or many pro sports in general, am a college sport guy only. I will go watch my local JUCO team play before I will watch a pro game and be more entertained. So who care what Kiper says.:whistling:

Besides catching punts I can't remember our special teams being any better (Russell) and Prentiss Wagner just got 2nd team AA and we had a ton of picks (Joseph),so I say they pulled their weight with what they had!!! Janzen had a damn good year as well!
