freak has an option he can enable to allow VN members to mete out "reputation" points and "remove" reputation points based on posting quality (or if you feel cheeky). The purpose of this poll is to determine VN Member feelings toward this option before he enables, since hard feelings can come about.

I'm down with whatever. My only question would be, how high does the reputation meter go? :matrix:

AFAIK, the meter is basiacally used as a gauge to let you know the "quality" of the member's posts. Me personally, I like it. I wouldn't "remove" points just because someone tends to be negative.

I'm pretty sure it doesn't remove the ability to post.

I think this would be an enormous mistake. Its bad enough that we take pot shots at each other and the threads spin off into ego battles, leaving the original issue in the dust. But if you do this, then you virtually guarantee that even remotely controversial thread will quickly devolve into name-calling and complaints that people are being targeted or unfairly criticized, etc., followed by people defending their criticisms, and on and on and on.

I just think you will really regret it if you do it.

Yeah, that's the reason freak wanted a poll. I personally wouldn't use it for vindictive purposes, but I know others would, just because they can.

yeah, they tried rating threads in here before, with similar results.

On the plus side, it was nice to give someone you dont like a one star thread rating. lol
