But still make sense (kind of);
1) Bob Stoops. This is the home run hire now that the Gruden dream has died. Honestly this is who I have rooted for since it became apparent a change was in the offing; basically since the UF debacle. He is from the Bill Snyder coaching tree and that man can obviously get it done, he has coached at UF and knows recruiting in the South, he's a big name that would make a splash. I have many close friends that are huge OU fans and by all accounts his tenure there has grown stale. They all think he has done less with more than any other coach in America. I think the Hill is the fresh start he needs.
2) Chris Hatcher. Not a splash by any means as he is currently at Murray State, but I believe this guy is a winner plain and simple. He knows the South inside and out. In his first year at Murray State Hatcher led the Racers to a 53 record in the Ohio Valley Conference (tied for fourth place), and a 65 record overall. 2010 was the Racers first winning season since 2004. Went 7-4 in the 2011 season. The guy can get it done in my opinion.
3) Matt Mitchell. Current HC at Grand Valley State. Let's face facts the Lakers can spot coaching talent and CMM is 19-5 since taking over. The previous coach left to join Brain Kelley at ND. It would be a huge step up and he's probably not ready, but GVSU coaches dont seem to fail.
4) Jack Del Rio. I have no idea why, but I think he could win in college.
5) Raheem Morris. Morris spent one season with the Kansas State Wildcats in 2006, as defensive coordinator under then-head coach Ron Prince. He helped improve the defense in several statistical categories including total defense, scoring defense and pass defense. He helped the Wildcats upset the #4 Texas Longhorns during the 2006 season. Big name and a defensive minded coach.
Let's hear your list
