Yeah, obviously we fans have ridiculous expectations for a defensive coordinator. I'm sure that Sal just needs more time. "It's just like anything else."

So putting a product on the field that isn't historically inept would be a miracle? Not trying to be an ass, but seriously?

Learning and executing Sal's defense to the point that we beat top ten teams in the first season, yes, I would have considered that a miracle.

We will be out coached in this one for sure. Hell Troy out coached us Saturday...the only difference will be a big step up in athleticism from Troy to Mizzu. :cray:

If we had any defense at all we would have beaten Georgia, Miss State, Florida, and South Carolina. Top ten? yhea
But, I guess that's just Tennessee fans for ya. Accepting mediocrity when so much more was completely attainable.

Well, maybe not. You're love affair with "moral victory" might tie for the top.

Sal is in way over his head. He has shown no ability whatsoever to make adjustments or have an adequate game plan ready. We could have hired so many people other than him and would have a much better record. Granted, I realize hindsight is 20/20, but he is without a doubt the worst defensive coordinator in the country. I blame Dooley for hiring him knowing he was going to try to change things so drastically. Sal came in and tried to install everything at once, and as a result, we do nothing well and are in a constant state of confusion.

My love affair with moral victory? I'm the one who is fuming because of the compounding failures of this staff. You are the one who is accepting these failures and trying to excuse them. An average coaching staff would have this team at the top of the Eastern Division. That's my problem. Tennessee shouldn't have incompetent coaches.

I do not disagree with a single word of that.

Still doesn't change the fact the it's what we have and our defense isn't gonna be productive enough this year to get the job done.

False. The pile of crap is on the kitchen table. With adequate teahing, the dog would have been house trained and took a dump outside. It's not the dog. It's the owner.

If our defense was just below average I would understand where you're coming from. But I'm not buying it with how historically bad this unit is.

Well let's just throw a pity party and accept that we couldn't stop a bonfire with a fire department. Our defense has some quality players that, when used correctly, have the potential to keep us in games.
