‘18 GA WR Jordan Young (FSU signee)

Side note I found this article about the rocker firing at Georgia with quotes from the mom who he supposedly pissed off. Summary she loves rocker and it was all Internet rumors.

Aubrey Solomon's mother gives a telling response to Tracy Rocker rumors

Nice.

I think they were asking who on the Vols staff. Is there a Callahan on staff?

No, it was Ryan Callahan, I was thinking I saw that he tipped off the UT staff, but looking back, I see it was 247 he tipped off, according to the post I read earlier in the thread.

I had that idea that someone must have made a phone call to UT staff. Don't know.

I think 247 was just trying to act like they knew before our staff but that would seem to be a reach. They were as shocked as everyone else. Another reason I say rocker is his kid goes to high school near conyers I believe and he said he spent his year off watching his kid play baseball. So maybe he found him through that. I think he was also the first coach to go visit young. This is pure speculation on my part but it makes sense. He was the first coach young thanked in his commitment tweet as well.

Edit: just to add to this, rocker is his lead recruiter as well as the kurott garland guy from the same high school that is also unranked but looks like a decent prospect.

But it basically backs my assessment of these scouting services.
Unless told about talent or shown who to look at, they genuinely have no idea what to look for.
Not even looking at his schedule but I’m sure his team played opponents with rated prospects who had scouts at games and/or had the film shown to them. . So not once In any of those games, did he stand out ?!? From the highlights I’m watching that’s an impossible statement to stand behind. He jumps off the screen as an immense talent

Jay watch the Grayson North game i linked in the Pappoe thread and tell me who the best player on the field is. I know a few families in the Gwinnett county area and it is all about going to the camps for rankings... If you dont do the big name camps you are looked as a 2nd tier player.

Can you relink it here?

For those who do not have time to watch it, who do you think is the best player on the field in that game?

The best players are usually known by their senior years. Those writers don’t attend games unless both sides have a lot of prospects. I can see how this kid slipped through the cracks.

BUMP!

Gotta keep after him. Want to make sure he knows he is important, even on a UT message board!
Teams are going to come after him.

Good thinking. Let's make him a Best Friends collage.

I'll get the poster board!

Where Jordan Young fits in

Tennessee didn’t have a very productive wide receiver group last season. A shift to a pro-style offense could change this, though. But it is also why the coaches are bringing in Young and Alontae Taylor.

Playing time was one of the main messages to Young during his conversations with the coaching staff.

“They said I should come in and play right away,” Young told Callahan. “[Pruitt said] just that I’m one of their top guys, [and] they love me, can’t wait to have me up there in a couple months. They’re just trying to make sure I’m OK and everything.”

Young is a terrific talent and it’s a wonder he has been so far under the radar to this point.

The 6-foot-2, 185-pound Conyers, Ga., native holds a 4-star ranking from 247Sports, which he received less than a week ago.

I was not questioning accuracy of the post. I meant that the rating was lower than it should be.

No I know. I was just letting you know that it looks like they just threw that out there last week to give him a placeholder profile since he didn't have a profile on their page until the other day. And they are probably going to evaluate him and the ranking will likely go up when they finish their updates. I just don't think they've done any updates beyond the top 100 yet which was just done yesterday. I think the rest are coming soon. If you already knew all that sorry, I misread yer post.

True...

But isn't it kind of silly? Really? People are more excited now, because he is rated in the top 200. He literally is the exact same as he was 5 days ago when he was "diamond in the rough" unranked.

All that matters is if we're going to get him.

For example, I'm at the same level of excitement now about Jordan as I was when he was still unranked.

Stars aren't real. The recruit is.
