‘18 GA WR Jordan Young (FSU signee)

simmons said the 6-foot-2, 185-pound young could be “a game-changing type of pickup” for new tennessee coach jeremy pruitt’s staff.

“i mean, this is one of the most eye-popping late finds that i can remember,” simmons said of young, who’s ranked by 247sports as the no. 190 overall prospect and no. 27 wide receiver in the 2018 class. “i think, based on film and based on profile and just what we know on the surface of this kid, he could be one of the best receivers in this class.”

young received his initial rating from 247sports on thursday and made his debut in the final update to the top247 for the 2018 class.

Simmons said young’s highlights, combined with his history as a state champion in the 110-meter hurdles in georgia’s class aaaaaa, quickly caught the attention of 247sports’ analysts.

“we put him in the top247 based on that profile, that highlight film,” simmons said. “and i think, if we had more time to get confident with this kid, that there’s no reason he doesn’t have top-100 or five-star ceiling. That’s how good his film and his profile — being a track state champion and a productive kid on the high-school level — that’s the kind of upside i think he’s got.

“so, to me, i think this is a game-changing type of pickup.”

Its more than the number. I saw the same comparison while watching his film.

Jordan Young = Julio Jones

This kid is gonna be special on Rocky Top. Will be the best WR on the team the second he steps on campus this summer. He's that good.

Today's gross overreaction is brought to you by D4H. Just like every other day.

Doesn't ESPN figure into that? They haven't rated him yet.

I don't think they average in a ranking if a service hasn't ranked them yet. Either way, he will get a bump from Rivals and he is only 0.0002 points from being a composite 4 star.

He should. My concern is who will be throwing him the football? And can they be protected?

QB and OL is our achilles heel right now. I think Will McBride can be decent. But I fear the coaches will play Guarantano who I have less faith in. And there is little chance our o-line is good this year. 2019 is the earliest I can see us being decent up front.

Shrout?
Could be stout?

If my looking right there is no way he doesn’t become a solid composite 4* this week, correct?

Due to rivals givin him a starting 5.6 ranking till their new rankings comes out this week it is weighing him down. So once he gets a 5.7-5.9 or whatever Rivalen gives him (I seriously doubt they don’t move him up in that range) he’ll get a 4* composite ranking again!

HUGE!

We will have 8 4* composite players then. Would be nice if we could finish with a 12/10 4/3 star split.

You're asking a lot!

He has to become bettr than he already is to earn that extra star on Rivals!

Any worries about other teams? Kid is about to blow up. Hearing from Ohio St and Auburn among others.

The hype is real though...that highlight reel was incredible.

FOr this kid to be this good and notnhave a ranking until just the other day is real fishy.
This isn’t even possible. Like you couldn’t do that on purpose.
Really Good looking player. I’m excited.

No reason to not root for our commits to get the rankings they deserve.

True...

But isn't it kind of silly? Really? People are more excited now, because he is rated in the top 200. He literally is the exact same as he was 5 days ago when he was "diamond in the rough" unranked.

All that matters is if we're going to get him.

For example, I'm at the same level of excitement now about Jordan as I was when he was still unranked.

Stars aren't real. The recruit is.

Definitely odd. But I think the main reason is he was a track guy mostly and didn’t show out on the football field until his senior season. Plus isn’t his school not well known for ballers? And no camps for recruiting sites to see him. Just glad our staff found him.

What excites me from the vids is that he is able to go get the poor pass...be physical. If our worst case on OL and QB come to be, here is the guy that can bail out the QB on a poorly thrown or ill advised pass. Hopefully he won't be the only one.

But it basically backs my assessment of these scouting services.
Unless told about talent or shown who to look at, they genuinely have no idea what to look for.
Not even looking at his schedule but I’m sure his team played opponents with rated prospects who had scouts at games and/or had the film shown to them. . So not once In any of those games, did he stand out ?!? From the highlights I’m watching that’s an impossible statement to stand behind. He jumps off the screen as an immense talent

No doubt about the fact that Jeremy Pruitt's evaluation should carry much more weight than Woody Wommack.
