’14 GA ATH Elliott Berry (UT Signee 2/5/14)

This is kinda going to be like the c Patterson deal.. We know the ties they have with UT and they were thought to be big time Vol leans at the beginning. Other schools will pop up and have ppl thinking, but in the end it will be UT. They've always been the team, but they're gonna keep people on their toes about it... Would be boring if they just shut things down.. I mean, they're kids.

I understand where you're coming from with this but Ole Miss thought they were entitled to Peyton once upon a time.

UT is by no means entitled to signing either of the Berry's--and if anyone on the Hill thinks that, it's going to backfire IMO.

EB expressed his emotions about the UT staff not offering Holsey (2011 CB that went to the Barn). There were reasons why UT staff didn't recruit him hard against many of the VN posters' displeasure. Holsey was a darn good CB prospect. Holsey is close friends with the Berry family, especially the twins. Trooper Taylor also plays a role here. EB was close to Trooper, and Trooper is close to the Berry family.

TT is the main reason I'm concerned that the Berry's won't land here. If he's still at the Barn for the '14 recruiting class...AU has the inside track. JMO.

Back to the Holsey thing...I obviously missed all of this--why exactly didn't we offer?

IIRC, we didn't like his size. Holsey was apparently pretty small in person. He was maybe 5'9".

TT got passed up for the OC job at the Barn. Hopefully he leaves looking for a jump in pay grade or he'll just be satisfied being a position coach his entire career.

I think as long as Chizik is at the Barn, TT is there too--especially given the fact that they had quite a bit of coaching turnover themselves this off season and he's one of the holdovers.

We shouldn't kid ourselves here, if Holsey is as close to the Berry twins as you say, the draw for them to AU is going to be a VERY tough pull--especially if TT is still there.

Hopefully the ill feelings EB had for DD are gone by that time and he helps us out but.......we'll see I guess.

Honestly why would these kids come out their sophomore year and say yeah UT is where I am going to play. If they want to get a 5th star they had better wait till the final evaluations are done before comiting to play for UT or they will inevitably be no hire than a 4 star recruit.

The brothers are closer to Eric and his dad than Holsey. No matter what Eric said about Dooley, he still loves UT and will sell UT to his brothers.

It goes a lot deeper than not offering Holsey - the reason he went off on twitter is because of the way he perceived (true or not idk) CDD to have treated his former secondary teammates like garbage.

According to corner on vq, there is no issue. Berry and Dooley have both gotten over it and its the fans that has made this a lot worst than it is.

Well I can guarantee that Dooley and Berry never spoke. I'm sure Berry downplayed it after people questioned him about it... I think he even deleted the tweets. But that was a very large out burst that spanned over 5-6 tweets on a social media network when he is followed by tons of people.

I find it hard to believe that Berry just got over it.

You don't know that. Berry is at UT quite a lot. It was definitely a large outburst but he just let his emotions get the better of him. Berry has been critical of Dooley before about the former players and working out policy but that has been resolved also. He was just sticking up for his teammates. Berry nor the coaches have time to deal with something as small as that.

Bottom line is Berry is still a Vol, and if people think he will push his brothers to Auburn out of spite then they are clueless.
