’14 GA ATH Elliott Berry (UT Signee 2/5/14)

Where ever Trooper Taylor is coaching will have a shot at these two, unless something stupid happens.

I find it sad they think that highly of TT. His actions have shown poor character IMO, and I always felt EB had outstanding character.

One thing Dooley does need to do in the offseason is start making some calls to former Vol players and find a way to reconnect. The VolNation is a family, and Dooley needs to be the man and try to bring the family back together. Yes, there should be clearly established guidelines the former players need to follow, but they should feel welcome here. This is home. I'm not saying this in regards to the Berry twins, I'm saying this in regards to the men who have given their all on the field as Vols. We have had many great young men come through this program and they should not feel unwanted or unwelcome here. As long as they act responsibly, they should be greeted with open arms.

So ,what are you saying....

And for the record, I do want the Berry twins to be Vols, and if they aren't, I will feel extremely disappointed. But in all of this, the thing I want most is for Eric to feel comfortable here. He is my favorite Vol of all time. Many greats have played here, but EB was always humble off the field, and a beast on it. In his time here, he exemplified what a Vol should be. I loved to watch him play. The idea of there being a rocky relationship between him and UT just doesn't sit well with me. I'm not blaming Dooley, but I would love to see CDD reach out to him and address any issues. And for those who question why I think Dooley should take the lead, it's simple. He is the coach. He is the leader of the program. It's up to him to restore peace to the VolNation. We pride ourselves on tradition. We cannot cut ties with players who helped build that tradition.

Let's also remember that just because they have the name Berry doesn't mean they are going to turn out exactly like him. They still have a long way to go.

Saying that, I will always take a Berry.

They are very, very, very, very good. That being said, revert back to my previous post.

I hope we get these guys, its a few years down the road but two guys (him and his brother) that could really boost the program...The Berry Men are tradition and we need to hold onto that

Personally, I'd rather Dooley concentrate on finalizing his staff, finishing strong with the current recruiting class, coaching the team up and winning several games this coming season... Kissing former player a$$ is way down on the list of things I'd like to see him do.. JMO....

went to the same school as EB, apparently we didn't offer him like we should have and EB started getting all pissy on twitter.

Joshua Holsey - Yahoo! Sports

and we have offered him.

Wouldn't have minded having him, but he has been committed to Auburn since May of 2011. Besides that he was offered a scholarship here.

Still don't get the anger.

If we are a top program, we will be in it. Eric Berry and his dad absolutely love Tennessee. I just dont see the twins not giving UT a serious look if UT is back on top.

if Dooley is the coach when these two graduate, they most likely wont be vols.

A. Who liked this? lol

B. We start winning or we get a new coach. Either way, we will be a more attractive destination for these two when their recruitment really heats up a year from now.

First, I said to do it in the off-season. This isn't the off-season, it's recruiting season. There's a time of the year where Dooley would have time to reach out to former players. He doesn't need to kiss their ass, and I never suggested he did, but he should reach out and let it be known he wants them here. This is home, and they should feel that. Making former players feel comfortable here is nothing but positive. It helps the program.

Same here. His comments and this whole situation, if true, really surprises me. I thought he had his act together and was very level-headed. Guess I may have been wrong, makes me sad.

Don't plan the funeral before the body dies. Alot of things change in 2 years. James has more say so than Trooper Taylor.

One school the twins know all too well is Tennessee. They aren't a slam dunk to wear the orange and white just because their father and brother did. They want to give everyone equal opportunity. It's on Derek Dooley and his staff to show them that they belong on Rocky Top.

"Honestly it's the place that I have ties too, but it's my recruiting time," Elliott said. "I don't have any favorites right now, but everyone is going to have a equal shot. I'm open to coming back up and checking out the school for myself."
