Again, read my posts.
I did read your post. You said that if we're recruiting properly, we shouldn't get transfers. I don't see Pruitt and company building a roster around the portal. I see them taking transfers occasionally to fill a need, just as Bama, Clemson, OK, OSU, and LSU (Heisman trophy winning transfer) .

Which is exactly the same thing I said. I never said wed never use the portal, or that I'm against using the portal.

And yes, if we're recruiting right, and we're not losing guys we shouldn't have to use it very often. That's my point.

Some just want to find one small snippet to argue about something.

You are correct.

Similar to building a NFL roster through the NFL Draft and not Free Agency.

Honestly I think Pruitt and company are ahead of the game. I mean Jalin Hyatt is an absolute steal. And then you look at our PWO program.

We are building a strong program through recruiting. BTW...the transfer portal is actually a part of that realm.

Here we go again. I say one thing and I'm taken to be adamantly against the portal. Go back and read all my posts.

Didnt say that. I asked a question that pertains to your statement about the transfer portal. All I stated is that CF powerhouses utilize the portal sometimes. There is absolutely nothing wrong with using it if it fills a position of need.

Hyatt is the most underrated gem of this class imo.

You inferred it by what you said. You acted like I said that we should never use it and I never said that.

I dont understand it, several on here have now responded to my post in an argumentative manner but respond with essentially the same point(s) that I have already made.

My main point was that we get back to a point where every time a player hits the portal we're not on here wonderring/worrying about whether we can get said player, because if we've recruited well it's not going hurt us.

If there's a great player out there at a position of need, that can help immediately, by all means late get him.

People wonder, ponder, question, speculate, guess, and discuss all the time here. It's what message boards do. I believe you're taking this a lot more serious than those throwing these portal players are.

Your original statement was more argumentative towards the op than any of the followups. Chill, we'reall vol fans here. Peace out.

Coaching staff is responsible for recruiting, transfers, JUCO--whatever. I will leave it to them as to how players help or hurt the team. They know the numbers. They know the needs and talent. Chill out guys!!!!!!!!

To repeat what I said before, unless we're talking about an absolute stud player, I'm of the opinion you use the portal to fill needs you were unable to address in recruiting. So recruit first, portal later.
Yep....Absolutely need to double vet them....There is always a reason they could not hang.

Be sure to remember this when you're rooting on Aubrey Solomon after sacks next year. Or DeAngelo Gibbs after a TD catch... Or Kennedy after a pancake block...

Lol

This. Brandon Kennedy was 2nd string. He will be a draft pick in 2021.

So if Trevor Lawrence wanted to transfer here you’d just say ehh focus on high school kids? Nah. I’m focused on players from anywhere that can help us win. I don’t care if they’re here 1-4 years. Especially since the only way we get to 85 limit is via taking some transfers. We can’t sign 30 kids from high school.
We have to cut 7 to sign 25

Not sure why everyone is all about transfers at this point. JMO, but I think you focus on recruiting right now unless we're talking about an absolute stud player hitting the portal. Most of these guys may have been highly rated out of HS, but they're transferring now because they couldn't get the PT they wanted. Not saying they still can't become players, but I'd focus on guys you could have for longer.

I hear what you're saying, but this kid plays a position that will ne looking for new starter. I say prioritize the kids who could fill a need.
