I think it may be closer than that. He has no real reason to delay any longer. He has his info. His dad said it shouldn't take long after he finishes his visits.

I hope you're right. This fanbase could use a shot in the arm after this football season. Springer's commitment would create a lot of positive buzz that would have the University of Tennessee in the spotlight for the right reasons for once.

Agreed, and that will be true no matter when he commits so long as it is to Tennessee. This fanbase is starved for a winner, and Barnes has provided that stability, structure, culture, and success. The longtime basketball fans have suffered thru a lot of bad times to get to where we are now. It just feels like we finally deserve a guy like Jaden Springer to pair with Walker and Johnson. I hope he saw that this weekend. As you said, it would soften the blow of this football nightmare.

people sort of expect a loss there anymore. A thing of life, kinda like wrinkled skin in old age. Now if you said the day after KY, that might fit.

From the Memphis 247 site via UM Hoops Forum:

"Memphis staff still believes they are in there. I do not. People are sleeping on Michigan. They have a legitimate shot at stealing Springer from the Vols.“

And from Corey Evans' latest Twitter Tuesday mailbag:

Q: Jaden Springer and Tennessee - getting his last OV, do you think UT has the best chance of getting his signature over Michigan and Memphis?

A: Yes, Tennessee is definitely the favorite and I would expect a decision soon seeing that he has completed all of his official visits. While UT has been discussed as the heavy favorite in recent weeks, I will still not underrate Memphis or Michigan’s chances. Sources have told me that Springer has taken a great liking to the Wolverines and it really would not be a total shock if he were to choose them. Still, at the end of the day, all signs point towards Tennessee. It hosted him, along with their two other top-35 commits, Keon Johnson and Corey Walker, over the weekend, which should make it difficult to turn the Vols down.

So, it seems like Jaden is weighing a decision between Michigan and Tennessee, with Tennessee still being the one to beat. FWIW, Rob Lewis was asked about the Michigan chatter last night, and he still likes Tennessee's chances a lot.

If he chooses Michigan then that tells me we simply aren't paying enough. Back up the Brinks Truck. Don't let this one get away.

Anxious to see how well Juwan Howard does with UM this season. Doesn't hurt having Zavier Simpson coming back this season

Honestly, Evans’ statement seems like all things being equal, that he’s convinced it’s Tennessee, but doesn’t want to go all-in because it is recruiting and these are 18 year old kids making decisions. Nothing is 100%.

The Memphis info seems like perhaps wishful thinking in the fact that if he doesn’t pick Memphis, then they hope he picks anyone but Tennessee. I’m not totally dismissing/sleeping on the Michigan chatter, or Memphis for that matter, but I’m also still not overly concerned, and I expect a positive decision sooner, rather than later.

I agree and am also not discounting either Memphis or Michigan. Anything is possible in recruiting. I remember last year when everyone thought Josiah would be going to Duke or Clemson, and he shocked everyone by choosing the Vols. That said, everything still seems positive for us.

We'll find out soon enough.

I just hope we find out soon (i.e. this week or early next week) so my blood pressure can return to normal. Springer's impending commitment has been helping me cope with football being trash (again) so I would hate to see it not happen.

Apparently, the Memphis insider who was claiming Memphis to be a legitimate threat now has this to say:
“Springer is going to UT. Book it.
They made a very hard push. Won’t be enough. UT.”​

I read Evan Daniels' Q & A with Jaden. He essentially said the same things when talking with Rob Lewis. The new thing was that Coach Barnes planned on the team to be guard dominant over the next few years.

No timeline set, but a decision will be made soon. He is going to sit down and talk about all 3 schools with his family.
