‘22 FL SF Dillon Mitchell

Why try to force your kid into to your agenda? Gotta let the kid live his own life and do what's best for him
Obviously he doesn’t think his 17-18 yo son has the life experience to make such a huge life decision without guidance from his family. If your 17 yo daughter asked you to sign some papers to allow her to marry some douchebag like Will Wade would you sign them. Of course not. If one of these used car salesman types had convinced your son to come play for him you shouldn’t just say you gotta live your life - go for it. At least you wouldn’t if you were a decent father. A good father would help his son vet the slimeballs out and help him determine the quality coaches for him to play for.

You can raise your family how you want to raise your family….my son told me he didn’t want to wrestle this season…. I told him I agreed with his position….. he was still wrestling but I agreed with his position. 😂
At 18 years old you shouldn’t be telling your child where they will/will not go to school to play a sport on scholarship that they have earned. Give your honest and unbiased opinion sure, but you shouldn’t be picking/eliminating schools for them.

Your right in that you shouldn’t do the picking for them. What you should do is help guide them through the process, using it as a teaching opportunity for making big life decisions. High school kids who don’t seek the advice of a parent or mentor to assist them on something this big run the risk of them being fooled by a disingenuous arse like a Butch. Would you want your son to play basketball at Louisville just because Pitino got him worked over by a hooker? There’s a lot of slimeballs in every industry.

Like I said, give your opinion, but don’t tell him where he will/won’t go.

You have a right to your opinion. Obviously, we have laws they say someone can make their own decisions the moment they turn 18, but everyone has a right to raise their children as they see fit. Many/most 18 year-olds have had very little real world experience, and it is abuse to simply turn them loose to be used by a cold, cruel world. 18 years is the law, but it is not some magic number where every young person automatically knows how to survive and thrive. Certainly some of these recruits have traveled, and have a better handle on things than most young people, but everyone's mileage may vary.

In my opinion, I do not believe this is the best choice that any young basketball player can make. Mitchell had plenty of good choices, and he chose a school that will likely/hopefully lose it's coach in the next couple of years. Mitchell's accomplishments will be tainted regardless. I certainly hope this wasn't his parent's choice in this case.

Every parent worth their salt pushes their kids in the direction they should go…. If you have a good relationship with them then they may be able to show why they should go to the different school…As long as they are still being financially supported by me then they will have to listen to my input…. I don’t want my kids choosing a school bc of these coaches lying to them or tricking them into coming to their school…. We only care about this issue when it seems to work against us..

Not taking sides in this(although I do have my opinion), but I do take offense at the “used car salesman” slam. I happen to know many first class people that sell autos and I’m proud to call them friends. Most of them are damn good parents as well.

Not sure if the football atmosphere has much carry over to basketball players, but hearing it will be a sellout this weekend has to help. Should be an amazing atmosphere for him to take in and witness.

According to @TrippieRedd Mitchell was here this past weekend, not sure accurate though, haven’t seen that said anywhere else though?

In the recruiting forum, he is listed as a visitor for this weekend. I have no idea if it is accurate and my apologies if I misstated such.
No you’re fine…nothing has been stated as firm, it was a rumor he would be visiting this upcoming weekend for Ole Miss game (but he’s scheduled to OV to Texas this weekend) and joining BJ Edwards & Chandler Jackson but that hasn’t been confirmed. @TrippieRedd said his brother, who’s close to BJ, said Mitchell was coming in last weekend so that’s where that came from. His recruitment has had a bunch of twists and turns so we will see.

Brother said he got the weekends mixed up, but since I don’t want that looking like an excuse to posters on here that like bashing people that try to bring info, I’ll take the fat L, lol.

I figured that was the case but didn’t want to question your info, hopefully he indeed comes this weekend since he’s scheduled to be in Austin, TX.

Tennessee target Dillon Mitchell is headed to Texas this weekend for an official visit. That one is down to the Longhorns, Tennessee and Florida State. It really feels like it’s down to the Vols and Seminoles with Tennessee continuing to push hard. Many thought that Mitchell would commit to Florida State in August. That obviously didn’t happen and the longer this one drags out feels like good news for Tennessee.

So to confirm, he hasn’t made a trip to Knoxville in awhile has he? Feel like I’ve heard he was supposed to be here both last weekend and this weekend and he didn’t come either time?

It was rumored that Tennessee was trying to bring him in this weekend for Ole Miss game (even though he had OV to Texas scheduled), it was @TrippieRedd who said he was coming in last weekend but then said he got the weekends mixed up and is coming in this weekend, which also doesn’t appear to be happening.
