‘22 FL SF Dillon Mitchell

So basically he was recruited over?
Hard to say. If FSU views Green as the better player, they certainly hold fast to the minority opinion. Other schools, Tennessee included, as well as the recruiting services, view Mitchell as the better player.

Perhaps FSU was simply willing to accept that a bird in the hand was worth two in the bush.

Sounds like that is the case

I mean, yeah. This is a Mitchell thread, isn’t it? Lol sounds like they took Green over Mitchell to me.
With you I’m never quite sure man, figured I should ask. I don’t think they preferred Green, I think it was more that they thought they were getting him 3 months ago and still had not, and with Green ready to do something they weren’t gonna risk missing on both. I’m sure if Mitchell was to call them up and say he’s ready to commit they’d gladly take him.

That’s what I was saying, I didn’t understand your reply to the post/quote.
I’m curious why adding Green would end their recruitment of Mitchell but not Phillips. It’s been discussed that Mitchell and Phillips may not end up at the same place and if now Green is in the equation it doesn’t also pertain to Phillips? If anything based on their size it seems like Green is more of a substitute for Phillips than Mitchell

FSU now has 2 guys who are 6’9” ~210

Phillips is 6’8” 200 and listed as a PF by 247 and Mitchell is 6’7” 180 SF. Seems odd that the pickup of Green has more impact on their recruitment of Mitchell than it does Phillips.

I think Mitchell’s game is definitely more 3/4 where as Phillips is more 3/2, but yes both are very similar. Who knows it may have taken them out for Phillips too, Russ Wood knows Mitchell and his family well so I think he just felt more confident/obligated to share that side of things where as he doesn’t know Phillips.

Phillips is listed at SF by Rivals…Russ Wood stated that FSU viewed Phillips as a 3/2 and Mitchell a 3/4…and again maybe it did impact Phillips but Wood isn’t as close to that recruitment as he is Mitchell.

Also again, I don’t think it necessarily meant FSU was pulling Mitchell’s offer or anything, I’m sure they’d still gladly take him…just sounds more like maybe things were trending away with Mitchell regardless.

Makes sense. I’m not really familiar w their games, just going off the positions listed and their size. I know that’s not always perfect. Is Phillips one of those guys who can basically play 3 positions?

I think Phillips could be 2-4 and Mitchell 3-5…Phillips has a little more perimeter to his game than Mitchell imo.
