DI Women’s Soccer Championship schedule to shift, beginning in 2026
Sports Oversight Committee approved moving dates a week later
The NCAA Division I Sports Oversight Committee on Wednesday approved adjusting the championship date formula in women's soccer, beginning with the 2026 season. With this change, the Women's College Cup will be held on the second full weekend in December, the same weekend as the Men's College Cup.
The change follows recently adopted legislation to increase the playing season by two weeks to allow for more rest and less missed class time for student-athletes.
Cary, North Carolina, which has already been selected for the 2026 and 2027 Men's and Women's College Cups, will host both championships on the same weekends.
Currently, the Women's College Cup is held on the first full weekend of December.
Video review
The Sports Oversight Committee approved a proposal to require all preliminary-round hosts to provide video review, beginning with the 2025 Division I Men's and Women's Soccer Championships.
The rationale for this requirement includes keeping up with continuously evolving technology and allowances by the NCAA Men's and Women's Soccer Rules Committee to review correctable officiating calls for all rounds of the championship.
Currently, video review is in place for the national semifinals and finals.
