1/3 of Team Has Never Flown On Airplane. Really?

Both this and the stat saying 40 something players have never spent a night in the hotel before gameday seem a bit exaggerated. There are only 85 players on the team. We brought in a bunch of freshman but not half the team. Caveat, I know as much about this team as the rest of you, which is less than butch.

Not surprised really. A lotta people don't fly til college or after. I flew first when I was two quite a far distance around the world. Flew cross country when I was 15 and overseas when I was 16. I guess I'm more well traveled than I thought.

Obviously if you don't fly then you never get out. As if traveling in a car isn't possible.

I've driven through every state,Canada and Mexico (just Juarez in the 90's) as well. I prefer driving for the experience. But depending on the destination and time I fly and have done so hundreds of times.

Seriously, get out more.

Seriously? The reason he pumps up Freshman is because it's a recruiting tool. If incoming freshmen know that we played 21 in our first game it let's them know they have a shot to play.

He wants them to know he sees freshman as vital. Has nothing to do with competitive excuses.

You allege CBJ is "exaggerating" in statements about the freshman with absolutely nothing to back it up!

How bout this example - Downs not being listed in 2 deep, but he is second TE to come into game against Ark St. and he played more snaps than those listed in the depth chart, other than Wolfe. He's a senior, but his role is being downplayed. Elder said this week that the position is being played by committee with players taking equal numbers of snaps. So, why leave the senior off the depth chart? Because you want to play up the youth of the team. Just know I'm being played and would like to read some other story line besides the youth of the team.

Why in the **** would I want to go to Canada or Mexico?

I don't like flying and didn't till I was in my 20's but come on man. Do you drive to places like Arizona or NY or just don't go?

Don't travel much, but when I do I drive. We just don't travel to far. I'm in Georgia and have everything we love close. Family, mountains, beach, maybe one day I'll have the desire to venture out more.

If you count the walk ons there are about 108 players according to the roster on UTsports.com counting the redshirts there are 52 freshman.

Isn't it more appealing to a recruit to see guys starting who will be graduating, making room for new young players?

Now I understand, you know absolutely nothing about football! Let me educate you a little bit. A "depth chart" does not require a coaching staff to play players in any certain order. In fact, players in a depth chart at one position sometimes play in other positions. If you don't want to read about how young the team is, fact, then stop reading. Trust me, CBJ is not playing you, you are playing yourself!

CBJ said in press conference this week that a third of the travel team has never flown on a plane before. I can't believe that. How did they travel for their official visits? CBJ says he doesn't want the youth of the team to be an excuse, but he keeps talking about it, and exaggerating it. The number of freshmen in the 2 deep is exaggerated. It's all a clever ploy to keep the fan base patient. I would just like to read about something else for a change.

If that is what he is doing, then people on this board aren't buying it. We got too many convinced that we take down OU on Saturday for that to be the case.

I believe Tennessee has played more freshmen than any other team in the country. That's definitely not an exaggeration.

Not uncommon for people in the South. Most of us have family within driving distance. I've found people in more populous states tend to fly more growing up because they have family that's more spread out.

Or they have more money and can take fancier vacations.
