A 6'1" guard in the 2019 class verbaled to Louisville per Brett McCormick. She was at the Lady Vols summer camp last season and she can ball. Kudos to Jeff Walz and his staff. She's gonna be good. Teams are landing recruits in the 2019 class and we haven't landed a recruit seems like years. Oh how times have changed.

Walz is starting to recruit and he has already made some final fours with Louisville. That is a program on the way up and were going the other way.

Recruits commit to the coach....not the school! I hope Holly isnt using out history as a recruiting tool cause recruits these days don't look at her as being a part of that history even though she was her for every single championship. Players came to UT because they wanted to be coached by Pat. Until Holly proves herself by making it to the big stage we will continue to lose out on top recruits.

I totally agree. The sad thing is the 2017 class is loaded and have a few Elite recruits right from the state of Georgia. I have no idea what Holly and this staff will sell them. If we miss out on the 6'4" post from Georgia, who gives me flashes of Sylvia Fowles during her time at LSU, we are doomed. Her team mate Maya Dodson is amongst the Elite in that class also. I have a scary feeling that Dawn Staley and SC will snatch them up. The state of Georgia was a great recruiting ground for Tennessee, but with SC emerging, things can change for the worse for the Lady Vols when it comes to recruiting. Can we please bring in a new coach!

Top Freshman Nyah Green Commits To Jeff Walz And Louisville Cardinals Women's Basketball

The most telling part from the article is when she said something that I have been saying about Holly for a long time based on her use of Diamond and why she will have a hard time landing big recruits.

Green (according to the article) states:

"My decision finally came down to Baylor and Louisville," she said. "I chose Louisville because of their great coaching staff. They are genuine and they let their players play. I want them to make me a better player and give me the truth about my game so I can develop."

Holly has a way of micromanaging the group of players that she has and she doesn't seem to play them to their strengths and when recruiting prospects can see that already (especially someone who is so young) it is going to be hard to get players in here. They see how she has handled Diamond, they see how she isn't playing certain players and how certain players aren't being developed and if they don't see it you can bet the adult in their life/ear (whether it is their parents, High School Coaches or AAU coaches) sees it! Which is all the more reasons why we need to really reevaluate whether or not Holly is the coach for us moving forward.

+1000000....if Holly doesn't land any recruits for 2017, I think it's time to let her go! If we go after Walz, I'm sure any recruits he had recruited to Louisville would re-verbal to Tenn. I'm not 100% sure that would happen but it's a pretty good chance they would do so if they really wanted to play for Walz. We need a coach who is proven on the recruiting trail and has a great personality that could hold up to UT standards.

The Lady Vol name can still somewhat recruit itself, we just need a coach who can match it's recruiting prowess. Pat built a monster and Holly just hasn't seemed to be able to keep the aura going around the Lady Vol brand. I admit, I always felt Holly would have had us in a FF as far back as 2 years ago against Maryland. I hate to use injuries as an excuse but I would have liked our chances of beating Maryland had Massengale, who was having a breakout season mind you, went down with a concussion and out the rest of the year. We needed outside shooting that game and Ariel was the one who was providing it and it was pivotal in that loss. Just last year, we lost that game because we didn't have a dominate inside presence to match Maryland's big girls. Let's be honest Izzy would have ran circles around those big girls and bam, FF last year. Holly has had a tough road, but if she strikes out in the 2017 class, she just has to go before the program completely hits rock bottom!!!

Holly needs to go. It's no ifs ands or buts about it. These boosters and alumni need to let there voices be heard. These recruits are not dumb. They can see the writing on the wall. Right now Tennessee is a has been and is sinking as a program. Recruiting is vital key to a successful program.

I'm all for calling out Holly's coaching shortcomings but that quote has no reference to Holly or Tennessee. You are reaching.

They are genuine and they "let their players play" when has Holly truly let her players play? Especially Diamond? All season her emphasis has been to get the ball inside to Mercedes or Graves. Not only that her issues with Diamond seem to be personal and have effected the entire team, have you seen a genuine Holly/coaching staff for that matter? When Diamond comes out the game/makes a mistake which coach has gone over to talk to her? Trust me it isn't a reach players can see it. You're talking a one time Freshman of the year who isn't starting on a team that clearly needs scoring? Recruits see that, especially when that player isn't starting and is still the leader on the team in scoring.

This poster may not be reaching. A current All-American guard who was looking at Tennessee, I wasn't told the player's name, but basically said the same thing. She saw how Holly and this staff utilize Simmons and went elsewhere. Simmons took questionable shots sometimes, but she bailed Holly out of a lot of games. She was the only guard that didn't play scared also. I learned many years ago, there's a lot that goes on behind the scenes and a lot that is being said regarding this program on the recruiting trail. That post may seems to be reaching, but you'll be very surprised.

:crazy:Green is a freshman from Dallas, Texas. Will she stay with the Louisville commitment with both Texas and Baylor in her backyard? Four years is a long time and plenty of things could happen before her high school graduation.

Even though she attended Lady Vols camp last summer on her dime, Tennessee wasn't even a finalist. That says a lot.

It might say a lot if the statement were accurate. I do not consider myself a Holly apologist, but the article starts with a statement that the other finalists were "...Tennessee, South Carolina, Baylor and LSU."

And, while female athletes tend to stick with their verbal "commitments" more so than the male athletes, it is still a long time until the high school class of 2019 graduates. Anything could happen!

It is time to let Holly go NOW. We just cannot set around until TBA collapse and the program goes to hell in a handcart. I know AAU coaches in the St. Louis area and our program is viewed as one on its last breath. We still have 5 McAs left, we need someone who can coach and recruit. Hart and Holly supporters need to get real, save this program before there is nothing to save. We need a life line, NOW.

Who are you talking about?

Nothing that happens anywhere happens in a bubble. People around the country are well aware of some of the "extras" around the UT program and the controversies around them over the past several years. Depending on who you talk to some consider them an asset, some consider them a liability. I am not going to pass judgment on that but simply state it is what it is.

If you are Jeff Walz, why would you come here if you know this and then potentially at risk at having some of these individuals snooping around you program. The answer: you don't.

EDIT: You can add Brenda Friese to that list as well. The "extras" hate her as well.

There are many coaches out there that can do a much better job than Holly Warlick. I respect both Maria Cornelius and Debby Jennings, but I doubt they have any power to influence any coaching decisions especially if boosters and alumni get involve. The University of Tennessee is well known for women's basketball and there has to be some boosters and alumni willing to voice their concerns because they see a sinking program. I have no idea why Brenda Frese absolute hate Tennessee. I heard she continued to recruit Candace Parker after she enrolled at UT. If offered the job, I think Jeff Walz would seriously think about it. Even after a terrible season, Tennessee is still #2 in attendance nationally. Tennessee has the resources, facilities and fan base for any strong coach to be successful.

I was going by the copy and paste of the article that was posted. It really doesn't matter, I highly doubt we get any Elite recruits we this current staff.
