#1 Nyah Green to Louisville

There are many coaches out there that can do a much better job than Holly Warlick. I respect both Maria Cornelius and Debby Jennings, but I doubt they have any power to influence any coaching decisions especially if boosters and alumni get involve. The University of Tennessee is well known for women's basketball and there has to be some boosters and alumni willing to voice their concerns because they see a sinking program. I have no idea why Brenda Frese absolute hate Tennessee. I heard she continued to recruit Candace Parker after she enrolled at UT. If offered the job, I think Jeff Walz would seriously think about it. Even after a terrible season, Tennessee is still #2 in attendance nationally. Tennessee has the resources, facilities and fan base for any strong coach to be successful.

You are correct that they have no power to influence a decision but thats the wrong question. The question is what can they do to make the new coaches life miserable in Knoxville? Quite a bit I would argue.

Also I didn't say Brenda Friese hated Tennessee (although she might--I don't know) but that the same group that doesn't like Jeff Walz equally despises Brenda Friese.

A strong coach can just ignore them. Winning and bringing in top recruits will drown them out as long as the coach isn't doing anything illegal. I know you didn't say Frese hated Tennessee. I was making it known that she does and wouldn't be a possible candidate anyways.

I don't know who this Debby Jennings is but I tend to take umbrage at someone who calls our Coach (yes I'm a U of L fan but I recently had some good conversations here with most of the posters) a "dipstick" and a "cheater".

That aside we "tongue in cheek" hope that some UT people hate him because we are very pleased to have him as our coach. Would he seriously consider UT? Don't know, you'd have to ask him.

Is he in a situation where he might want to leave? I really don't think so. He has the support of probably the best AD (Tom Jurich) in the nation. He has, in his short time here already taken us to 2 NC games. Fan support continues to grow (we averaged around 9,800 this year. The team gets to play in the KFC YUM Center which is one of the premier venues. He is from Kentucky. He continues to recruit on a high level (5 McDonalds AA's on the team this year with 2 more coming in next year).

I've always been a bit jealous of the UT program. For years we wanted to be at that level. Now I think we are. The reason, Jeff Walz. I hope the coaching situation at UT resolves itself. I just hope it resolves itself with someone besides Jeff Walz.:)

OK. I Googled Debby Jennings and I know who she is now. Still a bit miffed that someone of her stature would make comments like she did.

Not disagreeing with the bold portion of your statement but just want to point out that we are #3 in attendance this year, we have the resources, the facilities and the fan base. UT is a great job. I'm just thinking that Jeff has those same things a U of L so why would he want to leave?

He does, but maybe the history will give us a slight edge. Maybe the thought of bringing back the most heated and watched rivalry in women's basketball between UTenn and UConn could give us an edge. The point is you never know. If the rumors are true and that's who's option #1, the boosters will push and make their voices be heard until he publicly says NO. As far as Jennings, if Walz was to come here, win and recruit, she will be silenced. For some reason I think Niele Ivey of Notre Dame will be a great option also. She could hire Skylar Diggins as an Assistant Coach and bring that Princeton Offense. I guarantee you our recruiting will improve greatly. Just a thought.

I was going by the copy and paste of the article that was posted. It really doesn't matter, I highly doubt we get any Elite recruits we this current staff.

I have to admit I am particularly bothered by the failure to bring in an elite post in the next recruiting class. However, the best information that I have suggests that we are still in contention for several elite players for the 2017 class. If that is true, and if Holly can both prevent any defections, as well as obtain a decent post player from the JC or HS ranks in this next class, then she may be able to turn this around. Under any circumstances, it is highly unlikely, in my opinion, that Dave Hart will make any move before the end of next season, so the fans will simply have to wait and hope.

I totally agree. The sad thing is the 2017 class is loaded and have a few Elite recruits right from the state of Georgia. I have no idea what Holly and this staff will sell them. If we miss out on the 6'4" post from Georgia, who gives me flashes of Sylvia Fowles during her time at LSU, we are doomed. Her team mate Maya Dodson is amongst the Elite in that class also. I have a scary feeling that Dawn Staley and SC will snatch them up. The state of Georgia was a great recruiting ground for Tennessee, but with SC emerging, things can change for the worse for the Lady Vols when it comes to recruiting. Can we please bring in a new coach!

You have more faith in our recruiting than I do. We lose 4 guards this year and 1 post player, plus 1 of those guards is probably one of the best players to come through the program.

Dawn needs a BIG and elite 2017 and 2018 class if she wants to keep SC in the top ten. Our 2015 class was a dud (our only player transferred to Pitt) and 2016 was okay (we got a top 35 point guard and a top 75 stretch 4 that I think may be underrated).

You guys get on Holly a lot for recruiting... but we're not tearing it up either, not the way that schools like Baylor, Maryland, Notre Dame, Louisville and UCONN are... Dawn needs to get going still.

Nothing that happens anywhere happens in a bubble. People around the country are well aware of some of the "extras" around the UT program and the controversies around them over the past several years. Depending on who you talk to some consider them an asset, some consider them a liability. I am not going to pass judgment on that but simply state it is what it is.

If you are Jeff Walz, why would you come here if you know this and then potentially at risk at having some of these individuals snooping around you program. The answer: you don't.

EDIT: You can add Brenda Friese to that list as well. The "extras" hate her as well.

These people are delusional if they think Holly will rise up our program out of this mess. They are the same ones that are holding on to their railroad stock expecting trains to return as the nation's major mode of transportation. Does Holly have something up her sleeves that will be a huge surprise for next season? Has she signed the three best JUCO players in the nation and two graduate player that make us a lock for the 2017 Final Four? Does she have 5 of the top 100 players signed for the 2017 recruiting class? Right now our program is the 2015-2016 version of the Titanic.

Holly could have the top 6 players in the 2017 recruiting class...and still not make the pre-season top 10 poll...the AP poll...maybe...the coaches poll...no way! She does less with more than any head coach in women's college basketball!

You guys will have A'ja Wilson, Alisha Gray and Kaela Davis two more seasons after this one. SC is loaded. SC have a recent Final Four, multiple SEC Championships and #1 attendance to sell. We have NOTHING! How is Holly going to sell player development, a system or Final Four aspirations to any recruit?

We have been told that we have been in on top recruits since the 2014 class and how many came here? I have NO confidence in this staff. If Holly returns next season, this program is dead. For the fans who still believe Holly is the one, please let me know what you are drinking.

They are genuine and they "let their players play" when has Holly truly let her players play? Especially Diamond? All season her emphasis has been to get the ball inside to Mercedes or Graves. Not only that her issues with Diamond seem to be personal and have effected the entire team, have you seen a genuine Holly/coaching staff for that matter? When Diamond comes out the game/makes a mistake which coach has gone over to talk to her? Trust me it isn't a reach players can see it. You're talking a one time Freshman of the year who isn't starting on a team that clearly needs scoring? Recruits see that, especially when that player isn't starting and is still the leader on the team in scoring.

You are projecting your own feelings about Holly. Those are your words and feelings, not necessarily the recruits. With that reasoning, you can list all coaches of teams she did not choose.

This poster may not be reaching. A current All-American guard who was looking at Tennessee, I wasn't told the player's name, but basically said the same thing. She saw how Holly and this staff utilize Simmons and went elsewhere. Simmons took questionable shots sometimes, but she bailed Holly out of a lot of games. She was the only guard that didn't play scared also. I learned many years ago, there's a lot that goes on behind the scenes and a lot that is being said regarding this program on the recruiting trail. That post may seems to be reaching, but you'll be very surprised.

That post is reaching unless the poster has proof that the recruit felt that way AND that was the reason why she did not choose UT.

There are some posters who are very close to the AAU circuits and what reason do they have to make anything up, especially if they are a fan? I don't know about this poster, but I was told by someone who is close to the AAU circuits that a current All-American guard went elsewhere because she saw how this staff utilize Simmons. Reaching or not, elite recruits are not coming here with Holly as the HC. AAU coaches have a major influence on where some of these recruits go and right now Tennessee is not getting painted in a positive light in the eyes of recruits. My concern is what can Holly sell to these recruits?

As one of the posters stated Players watch games now. It is not like the old days when very few women's basketball games were televised, so few recruits actually saw many games and were able to form opinions. If a team is bad, no matter if it is coaching, players, or both, you are exposed before the whole world. Negative articles are also out there for the world to read. Once negative opinions start rolling, it has the snow ball effect when soon works itself into an uncontrollable avalenche. Added to that, are negative comments by sports commentators.

I remember something Carolyn Peck said about a month ago related to MeMe Jackson. Evidentially she was at an LV practice and happened to noticed the play of MeMe Jackson. She talked about what a great athletic MeMe was and all the abilities she showed in practice, I wonder why, with all the bad play we have become accustomed to seeing, MeMe has had limited time on the floor to show those skills?

Other commentators, including Peck, have also make negative comments about our style of play. It will not be the players that brings this team down, it will be the continual player and game mismanagement of the coaching staff.

I think Joanne P. McCallie is giving Holly a run for her money.

I think that McCallie is worse, not by a lot but worse. She has had nine years or so and just can't get it right and that is with several top 5 recruiting classes. She might be a bad coach but she sure can recruit.

My point is putting words in someone else's mouth. Unless someone heard from that recruit why she did not choose UT, it's completely unfair to say it's because of x, y or z.

However, it is fair to say Holly has not done a good job lately of recruiting.
