Certainly not a bad idea, but I think that would need a much more thorough rule rewriting, as some level of holding on the line or contact outside happens every play. I think holding should be a 5 yard penalty so officials can call it EVERYTIMEMaybe a rule where, if the refs miss an infraction like PI or holding, the opposing team can challenge it at the risk of losing a timeout.
Curious if you happened to count how many live action penalties we had in our last three home games. Not a direct comparison but it may speak to whether there is a home-team bias in officiating. We had 5 (UTSA), 7 (USC), and 12 (A&M) penalties, but I don’t know how many were live action. I assume it is > 1 in that span.UT should be making a big deal about the fact that Florida had 1 live ball penalty called against them vs UT, Alabama had 0 and KY had zero. That is an impossibility.
