1 penalty in 3 road games.

The SEC office didn't like the brash response from UT last year after the fans stormed the field and firmly implanted the Volunteer flag square up the arse of Nick Saban, whom is the beloved only child of the SEC.

We are continuing to pay for that exclamation point!

Could be a couple of things; (1)refs are trying to slow down Tennessee's offense so they can't score as many points as they have in Heupel's first two seasons, or, (2) They are betting on the game, taking the under, so they let the other team get away with penalties, plus call Tennessee tight to affect the score. I have noticed that as Tennessee gets closer to the end zone, the flags start flying.

One thing that would be interesting to know, in games prior to playing Tennessee, how many penalties have our opponents had called on them. There is where I think the evidence may revealed.

You realize that is about 500 plays, with 3 different teams and 3 different locations.....no penalties!!
When was the last time anyone heard of a team getting no calls in ONE game, let alone Three???
Common denominator would be if a lot of the same refs where assigned to our road games. I'm not sure where to look it up and not sure if they have teams that ref together game in and game out.
I do know by going on to Rupp Rafters forum in BBall season, that they can go back years on the officials that call their games. They will show a list of Official's names and their record when they call UK games. I know one year when UT played them at Rupp, they said look whose calling this game, we will probably lose and they did.

“In three road games this season, Tennessee’s opponents have been called for just one live ball penalty. Florida was called for holding on third-and-one in the first quarter against Tennessee. It was a big call though the Vols didn’t capitalize with a third-and-11 stop.”

“Officials called five penalties for 30 yards on Florida in the game while calling 10 penalties for 79 yards on Tennessee. Officials called two live ball penalties on Tennessee, going for 25 yards.”

“In total, officials called Tennessee for eight live ball penalties for 85 yards in three SEC road games. Officials called one live ball penalty for 10 yards against the Vols’ opponents in the three games.”

UT should be making a big deal about the fact that Florida had 1 live ball penalty called against them vs UT, Alabama had 0 and KY had zero. That is an impossibility.

Sports Talk Jay and his brother Chilmont discussed this subject in a video today and both of them were very testy about this subject.

Big deals were made - just by a different party.

You can see it in Heupel's face on some of the 'missed' calls. His hands are tied. Gotta be frustrating as a coach when you not only have to gameplan around SEC opponents but also 7 guys with whistles.
