Yep....If the committee has an ounce of ballz they will give it to the SEC champion! They are not. They are announced an hour or two after the tournaments end.
Correct. I don't think tomorrow's game will have any bearing on Tennessee's seeding. The question is, where do we stand now after beating the #1 overall seed in the tournament? I think we should be the #2 seed in Houston's region, and that suits me just fine.If we win tomorrow, no matter who we play, we'll have a better resume than either Florida or Alabama and will have beaten them twice in the last month.
But we were in the same spot, two straight wins and a better resume than Kentucky in 2022 and we were a 3 and they a 2.
If it were announced that he was out, a la Kenyon Martin in 2000, then yes I would agree. However, the committee can’t do that based on assumption. Smart move by Duke keeping it under wraps so it doesn’t affect the way the committee perceives them. Plus, they haven’t missed a beat since it happened.I'll also say this, Duke should be penalized for Cooper Flagg's injury. They aren't a #1 seed with him injured and he may not even play in the NCAA T.
We want Bama to win because we already own a head to head win against them and we’re ahead of them in KenPom - and we were ahead of them in the NET until yesterday. A Florida win would keep them ahead of us in all metrics.
Probably right… no way a win against Florida looks better than one over AuburnWe want Bama to win because we already own a head to head win against them and we’re ahead of them in KenPom - and we were ahead of them in the NET until yesterday. A Florida win would keep them ahead of us in all metrics.
I respect that, but if you go by what Lunardi and the talking heads are saying, FLA is currently in the drivers seat for the final #1 seed. Them beating Alabama for the second time in 10 days would only reinforce that. An Alabama win would drop the Gators and move us up.See i think differently. I think we want Florida to win so we can have a chance to win the season series on the back of beating Auburn.
Michigan State lost so I would assume they are out of the running. If he said six teams are alive for the final #1 seed he’s lying. Outside of us, Florida, Bama, MSU, and MAYBE St. John’s there is no sixth team, unless he’s including Houston and/or Duke (due to the Flagg injury) and saying they’re in the running because they haven’t decided who is #3 overall and #4 overall. They are notorious liars, but the head of the selection committee just said 6 teams were still live for the final #1 spot and that conference championship games tomorrow would be a factor in the #1 seeds. If we win tomorrow and are a #2 he was clearly lying.
That definitely helped our cause. Also good because we had a chance to slide behind them as a 2 seed if you rememberMichigan State lost so I would assume they are out of the running. I agree that the Alabama-Florida loser is probably out, but I disagree that Auburn isn’t deserving. Auburn has been the best team in the country based on metrics by a wide margin all year, and that body of work will deservedly give them the overall #1 seed. The committee should have alternate views to play out what happens in the conferences. They have to react if a team that was not in their list WINS their conference tournament, effectively knocking a team out of the tournament.
They will know in a couple of hours who is playing in the championship game. They can effectively adjust who they have chosen as the number 1 seeds, who is the top 2 seed etc.
It is a given that the loser of the Florida / Alabama game will be a two seed. And that two teams tomorrow are both deserving of a #1 seed. They will in my opinion with both be more deserving than Auburn. But that is not going to happen.
I didn't see the segment so not sure the exact wording, but maybe he meant the 6 teams alive for a 1 seed are 1) Duke, 2) Auburn, 3) Houston, 4) Florida, 5) Alabama, and 6) Tennessee.Michigan State lost so I would assume they are out of the running. I didn’t see it either - I was quoting what someone posted on here. You’re probably right. It would make much more sense.I didn't see the segment so not sure the exact wording, but maybe he meant the 6 teams alive for a 1 seed are 1) Duke, 2) Auburn, 3) Houston, 4) Florida, 5) Alabama, and 6) Tennessee.
I'm still not holding my breath we get it though, even with a win.
