Oh, I accidentally posted in the UNC thread. My apologies, mods. I knew you all were better than that, and you are.

I freaking hate Duke.

That makes two of us. I might be the only person on Earth who hates watching games in Durham. I'm actually bored by the high school gym and their stupid students. Once is nice. After 100 times there it's boring as hell.

Well, ESPN talking up the Duke/Syracuse faux rivalry. You'd never know that was a game without the Duke Sports Network known as ESPN plugging it. But it does make sense. Two elitist private schools with students who probably all went to high school together in New York and New Jersey. It kind of makes sense really. I guess next year UNC and Lville can be another rivalry.

And now Florida's the #1 team in the country....

Not so fast. If Cuse gets the Duke poll treatment they may be able to move up 6 spots in the poll. I mean they played a close game with a really good team in historic Cameron Indoor High School Gym.

Don't clump 'Cuse with Duke. They don't even come close in the snobbery of Duke

They're both snob schools, but you're right. Duke reserves a special snob spot. Unequaled, unparalleled, and unrivaled in that department.

I hate Duke, but that was a charge every day of the week.

I'd have to go back and look closer, but in live action, it looked like an absolutely horrible call. And the refs are looking at things in live action, not slow motion replay.

Based on the current rules, probably so, but that bush league play has been Duke's bread and butter for years. In lieu of playing actual defense they just undercut guys going to the rim and try to take a charge. At least the NCAA has taken some steps to curb that garbage, but the restricted zone still needs to be enlarged to the same size as the NBA.

I'd have to go back and look at the timing. I guess maybe you could argue whether the defender set his feet after the offensive player jumped, but it looked to me like a call that the defense almost always gets.

Bottom line though is Boeheim can't pull that crap in that situation. Bad block/charge calls happen and there was still time left.

'Cuse is far from snobby

Their fans on the other boards (I'm on) would suggest otherwise. Some of the smuggest snots I've ever seen. Act like they'll win the ACC for years and years to come. Hell, they probably won't even win it this year. But, that's just stupid fans on a board, and we know a little something about stupid fans on a board, don't we? I include myself in that definition.

Based on the actual rules, the call wasn't that bad. If the restricted circle was the same size as the NBA's he'd have been in it, and not been able to draw an offensive foul. It needs to be expanded to try and remove that trash play from the game as much as possible. It's prevalent throughout the college game, but through the years Duke has always seemed to be the worst about "defending" like that.

I hate Duke, but that was a charge every day of the week. The defender's feet were clearly on the ground and outside the circle.

His feet were moving as the offensive player jumped. He has to have both feet flat on the ground before the offensive player jumps. It was a horrible call.

Agreed.

Said it last week, but yeah, Syracuse's offense will keep them from a championship. I think Virginia might be the best team in the ACC (they'll win the reg season title), which is insane.

You're probably right in both accounts. I've thought Syracuse's offense far lacking as well. No way they win a title. I think the title is up for grabs for Florida, Zona, and Kansas. Quite frankly, none of those teams impress me, but it's just a down year for college bball. Both 09 UNC and 12 Kentucky would kick the crap out of any of those teams.

If I had to pick a Final Four right now, I'd go Florida/Duke/Villanova/wild card (I can't bring myself to pick Louisville because their SOS is atrocious). Like the last couple of years, I could see anything happening

Duke and Villanova are both **** teams. But this year, I suppose they could beat anyone. So, yeah, your prediction could very well be correct.
