If Bama gets in the SEC title game and loses to give them a 3rd loss, the committee would have to get us in at 10-2 with a head to head over Bama. Bama is kind of the key to us getting in.Tennessee's odds of getting in at 10-2 are not great. Sorry. They aren't. They've never been great. People keeping saying 10-2 Tennessee is in, but I don't think they realize how bad that Arkansas loss - plus getting wins against the heavyweights like NC State and Kent State - weighs on the minds of the committee.
At 10-2, there's a pool of four that are ahead of Tennessee. Texas OR Texas A&M, Alabama, UGA, and Ole Miss. The two in the SECCG are definitely locks. If - IF - the SEC gets a fifth slot, which isn't a given, Tennessee may have a chance. But that's what you have to hope for. A chance. Not a guarantee.
Truthfully, had UT played UGA, Bama or UF’s schedule, they would not even be in the 12 team conversation. That UT is in the conversation is a result of not having to play Texas, Texas A&M, Ole Miss, or shoot, even Mizzou and USC. And the OOC opponents ended up being complete trash.Yet at 10-2 we aren’t? We beat them right? Ok… why do we as Vols fans just accept this?
At this point, our win over Bama doesn’t mean much. Sure, we beat Bama, but they beat Georgia, and Georgia beat us. All teams with 2 losses, all teams that beat each other. One of those teams has to finish ranked behind a team they beat. It should probably be the one that has spent half the year taking a half off offensively.Yet at 10-2 we aren’t? We beat them right? Ok… why do we as Vols fans just accept this?
And Kentucky beat Ole Miss at Ole Miss.Wrong thing to compare. The rest of Alabama's schedule is what does it for them. They've beaten Georgia the same UGA we lost to, and also beat South Carolina, Missouri, and LSU. All temas in the upper half of the SEC.
Tennessee has one good win - Alabama at home - and one decent win in the Florida game. Four of Tennessee's conference wins are against four of the five worst teams in the SEC this year.
We lost to Arkansas and Bama lost to Vandy. Both were road games. Our 2nd loss is on the road vs a playoff team. The only way that's the case for Bama is if we get in.What are we supposed to do? Self immolate? The committee is going to screw us and there’s nothing to be done about it. Shouldn’t have lost to Arkansas, we had to have known after 2022 if there was any chance to leave us out in favor of Alabama they would
I’m not saying that’s how it should be. I’m saying that’s how it is. Committee as currently constructed would NEVER put in Tennessee to the exclusion of Alabama when they have the same record. Just a factWe lost to Arkansas and Bama lost to Vandy. Both were road games. Our 2nd loss is on the road vs a playoff team. The only way that's the case for Bama is if we get in.
ole Miss lost at home to Kentucky. Kentucky loss is worse than Arkansas away loss looking at SEC standingsTennessee's odds of getting in at 10-2 are not great. Sorry. They aren't. They are not a playoff lock lol
They have to play in Norman and against Auburn and then they have to play against Texas in the SEC championship if they win out. What will the committee do with them if they lose to Texas in the championship?
Y'all are acting like the season is over yet everyone still has to win 2 or 3 more games to be a 'lock'. No one is a lock until the playoff committee issues its final rankings after championship week.
Tbh there is no way that Bama finishes with the same record as us to even find out. They'll either have 1 more 1 or 1 more loss. They're going to play in the SECCG vs Texas because of tiebreakers. The only way that doesn't happen is if Mizzou loses to Miss st and Arkansas. In your scenario there still wouldn't be an argument for Bama with the committee because we would have beaten Bama and Vandy who they lost too.I’m not saying that’s how it should be.
